tyrions sliced nose
Do the others have to take over winterfell before the south figures out that they need to unite to help stop the others? How far south will the others go before tommen unites the realm to go fight and save westeros?
Daniel Tarly
1). Tommen won't be uniting the realm/ 2). I don't think the WW will ever get past Moat Cailin. Not enough books left...

House Mathrafel
Given GRRM's realistic portrayal of many aspects of human nature in Asoiaf. I would guess that even with full knowledge and understanding of the impending threat that no action would be taken. As in reality these characters and groups are more concerned with their own position than any wider picture. It will be for the few to save the many without enough help or even the recognition and appreciation they deserve. This maybe part of GRRM,s bittersweet ending! falcotron
The Brackens and Blackwoods didn't stop fighting until Jaime showed up in person with an army. The Boltons were still fighting the Ironborn when Stannis showed up. The Tyrells and Lannisters were still trying to take each other down when Aegon arrived. Even Stannis, who went to the Wall, was trying to save it from Wildlings, not Others. Why should we expect anything different here? The Others haven't invaded yet, and nobody's going to concede a power struggle to his enemy until they do.
Cas Stark
The army of the dead will need to make it to the riverlands before the rest of Westeros wakes up.

White Knife
Not even the Nights Watch have woken up. Seeing is believing as far as The Others are concerned.
Kaibaman
I suspect Varys already knows about the Others and is trying to put Aegon on the throne because he knows that the Lannister regime wont take it seriously until its too late.

TheStarkInWinterhell
It will take a lot. When word comes South of the wall falling and the others. Those in power will see it as either a Stannis ploy to draw them North Misinformation and the so called others are truly just Wildlings. A Northern ploy to keep them South. Tyrion wouldn't see Thorne even though he came all the way ftom the wall with a hand in a jar. There is no letter or person in the North that could convince anyone in the South, that the boogeyman is back after 8,000 years. At best some Vale lords and Riverland Lords may believe it. But as for the Iron Throne, Lannisters, Tyrell and Martell known will give it a true thought.
