ebevan91
That's a good question. I never thought about that myself. I'll check this thread again later.
Ser Dylen of the Green Oak
Being Robert's wife, then yes, the throne would stay with her, and I assume, pass to her children. So, in a sense, this means that - as long as there were no other reasons for them not to - it's not a far stretch to say that Joffrey, Myrcella and Tommen have legitimate claims to the throne as the queens children. Ser Dylen of the Green Oak
Sorry, I missed part of the premise. :dunce: Yeah, Queen Selyse would be the queen. *shudder*
jslippy3000
no selyse would become the queen, cersei would become a lady of caterly rock. her titles would probably include former queen of the seven kingdoms. I think . . .
DreamSongs
If Cersei lives to the end, she will probably be known as 'Widow Baratheon'.
Bad Hound!
When Joffrey dies, Cersei is not Queen but "Queen Regent", i.e. acting monarch while Joffrey is too young to reign. So if they didn't have any children, Stannis would become King, his wife Queen, and Cersei would step aside and go back to Casterly Rock. SlackBladder
If Cersei lives to the end, she will probably be known as 'Widow Baratheon'.Haha, I can see Cersei becoming some crazy old woman muttering about how the throne is rightfully her's. Golden Lion
No. You can only be Queen Regent if you have still a claim to the throne via your children who are underage. If Cersei didn't have children that she was passing off as Baratheons, then she'd just fade away as succession would cut her out by going to Stannis. She'd just be a lady or widow or whichever other titles she already held, like if Tywin still died, she'd have her Casterly Rock titles, just none left over from her time as Queen. baldtony
No, Cersei would become a Dowager Queen. That is the title for a Queen whose husband(King) dies and whose son takes the throne. If Joffrey and Tommen didn't exist, and Myrcella took over, then Cersei would become the Queen Mother. But in the situation outlined in the OP, Stannis would be King, Selyse would be Queen, and Cersei would be a Dowager Queen. A regent is someone who is ruling in the name of the monarch. Usually because the monarch isn't old enough to rule themselves. They don't have to be related to anyone. It's kind of a redundant title in the 7 Kingdoms because the Hand is effectively doing the same job

JonCon's Red Beard
The only thing that ties a Queen to the throne is the heirs she and the King produce. If the Queen has no children, they King can replace her for the sake of the kingdom.

Lion of Judah
She can't remain Queen after the king dies unless there is a law to where the throne passes to her in cases where there is no heir.
