Tyrion Lannister: Good or Bad, or Something in Between?
Wall Flower replied to Jaenara Belarys's topic in General (ASoIaF)
I've got to applaud him for giving Tywin a well deserved arrow to the chest. -
Very much looking forward to the Women of Troy. I thought Silence of the Girls was a great book.

I hope you let us know what you think about the The Thursday Murder Club. I always look forward to your mystery recommendations. I have a second-hand bind-up of the first two Montalbano books and want to get to them soon. I've seen the TV series but never got round to the books until now. I'm missing my library, which is closed due to lockdown, but I'm whizzing through a lot of the books I own - one of the few consolations of being pretty much confined to the house. I've never heard of the John the Lord Chamberlain series but it sounds intriguing. I do love a good historical mystery.

Ann Cleeve's Vera series was my mother's favourite and I inherited some of her books when she passed away earlier this year. As I like mysteries myself, my new reading project is to read the books from the beginning. I'm sad that she didn't get to read the new one though. Mum also liked the Karen Pirie series by Val McDermid, some of which I also inherited. If an old lady in her eighties could enjoy them, I assume they would be okay for X-Ray the Enforcer!

I feel like Zorral was just trying to be helpful. I found a couple of new authors from that list myself. S.G Maclean is one historical mystery/thriller author I enjoy who doesn't seem as well known. I've been reading her series beginning with The Seeker, which is set during the rule of Oliver Cromwell. The protagonist works for Cromwell's spymaster and is involved in murder investigations, as well as foiling royalist spies.

Fans of Sansom might like to try the Seeker series by S.G Maclean. The protagonist works for Oliver Cromwell's spymaster and the stories have elements of murder mystery and espionage. I've really been enjoying them. As an aside, I hate this genre trend for using the initials of the author's name instead of the first name. Not sure what the point of it is and I always struggle to remember the exact initials (that could be just me, of course).

Somewhat hypocritically too, considering that 'go to the wall or die' was the choice he gave his own son.
