  1. It is. Hard to say but maybe aliens or predator could do a better job! Either way, both Peltz and Iger are saying basically the same thing so it doesn’t really matter. Peltz is just using stronger language. Both think Disney has gone too far inserting ‘woke’ politics into its movies and should go back to just trying make them good again. I think you can over state how much the ‘woke’ stuff has on box office, the real reason their movies have been doing badly is that they just aren’t very good, and there is only so much mediocrity people are willing to pay for. The woke stuff fuels an entire industry of internet haters though, and certainly it’s not helping Disney by doing it, with Marvel and Star Wars you are just attacking your own fans which can never be a good business decision.
  2. Yeah it's an interesting article. I suspect a lot of writers like D&D have a series of parameters they measure themselves against as they write shows, rules they need check to make sure they are making a 'good' story. Some sort of moral dilemma for a character to come up against and solve is probably one of the things they think they need to shove into stories to make them resonate with audiences. Maybe they are right. I don't know. I do know that the majority of characters on 3 Body Problem were unengageing and forgettable, and all this flapping over moral choices was actually quite boring. Maybe the chinese version of the story wouldn't translate as well, doubt I will ever try and watch the original however.
  3. Rowling was testing the law, testing the Scots to actually take her to court. Remember it was the people who threatened to take her to Scottish court for the things she had said that led her to this testing. It is hardly a publicity stunt, why would she need publicity? Now there is a question as to whether things would be different if she wasn't so high profile, and if she hadn't done what she did, whether more people would have police turn up at their door for things they said online or on person. I suspect that word came from high up to resolve this quickly and for it to not get too far, Yousef doesn't really need that level of bad publicity, especially not after the Gender reform bill did for Sturgeon. But Rowling has now set precedent and badly trained officers should be less likely to start arresting people for little reason. The issues with the bill are still there though, the vague wording isn't something to sniff at, there is still room to arrest people something they said in their own house, and you can still get a non crime hate incident recorded against your name even if you committed no crime. On top of that, the enormous waste of police time and resources being used up by this bill .3000 complaints made in one day, obviously won't be that number constantly, but I'm sure there will be plenty of abuse of the law. Anyway, it's not like Scotland is alone in this, the UK already has plenty of incidents of people being arrested for things that really shouldn't be the police's responsibility. This is just taking this on another step.
  4. Yeah definitely. Although I probably never was into action games or multiplayer games massively, I certainly never have time for them now. The idea I could go tell the wife and kids I need to go spend 3 hours doing a raid with a bunch of rando's on WoW is laughable. Whereas I know some of my friends without kids will stay up till 3 in the morning playing Helldivers 2 or something.
  5. Great except it was you who mentioned power dynamics between white and black people last time. I guess now it’s not relevant?
  6. Honestly if you are wanting to talk about the definitions of racism by using the ‘academic’ ( or progressive left) terminology, where it’s all about ‘power’ balance, rather than the way most people understand the term, then honestly I can’t be bothered with that level of silliness. Unfortunately, that really was the lens that Karradin was viewing the above incident through, which is why it was seemingly handwaved as ok. Very reasonable.
  7. I was being flippant, but I’d be deeply worried if the person making decisions thought white people couldn’t experience racism, or some of the other dodgy things you’ve said over the years I won’t go in to.
  8. It’s widely acknowledged that the wording in the legislation is vague and ambiguous and this has to be interpreted by police officers on the ground who will only be given the bare minimum of training on how to deal with the issues. The chairman of the Scottish police federation has admitted officers are in a total muddle about it. But they still have to investigate all these claims. So they might not bother looking into whether your bike was stolen, but they will do something if your mum said something vaguely insulting in your house ( so that’s something eh Spocky!) Then if no crime is recorded they can still note it down as a non crime hate incident just so employers can check it when you try and get a job. Bad enough in England but in Scotland they don’t need to remove it if it’s deemed trivial apparently. So it might never get to court, doesn’t need to for it to still be a problem. Certainly JK Rowling is hoping she gets taken to court though because then it will put a spotlight on the farcical law for everyone to see.
  9. Yes and you failed it. Thats the problem. Except it’s worse than that, you have to expect the Scottish parliament and a bunch of untrained police officers to be the arbiters of ‘reasonable’.
  10. Watch out, you could get a police record for that stuff up in Scotland mate
  11. That’s what I thought. So no real answers. Just some shadowy ‘vested interests’ pulling all the strings. No evidence, just more insane conspiracy theory.
  12. Who are these vested interests of which you speak. If you have some facts you want to lay on us then I’m all ears.
  13. Yup, that’s it. The Davos gang or something.. sharp thinking.
  14. Not sure what the benefit of getting a load of Labour Party members in if you turn off the majority of the electorate.
  15. Many of the excuses seem to be companies going all in during the Covid boom, and making some bad bets on gaming trends. I think the problem really is that there isn't this huge untapped growth of gamers any more, so growth isn't ever going to hit those highs. So companies see declining growth and just lay people off to make the balance sheet look better. CA will probably be ok in the long term if they concentrate on total war. 40K is probably their next game and there are rumours of a sort of Victorian historical title, which could be awesome.
  16. Scotland introduce new hate crime law on April fools day, unfortunately not a joke. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-68703684
  17. Well nobody is suggesting that membership of a political party is a bad thing. So I’m not sure how Liff came to that conclusion. Actually people leaving a political party to maybe go join another one that better suits their views is actually democracy in action and should be celebrated. That Starmer is probably building a broader base that appeals to a greater number of people in the country, rather than some hardline leftists within his party is almost certainly a good thing too, and is a positive sign for democracy.
  18. I'm pretty sure there is a big difference in the appearance of Departed DiCaprio and Titanic DiCaprio. He at least had the sense to dress down a bit for the role and cut his hair.
  19. ....the guy I was responding to didn't seem to
  20. Clearly Netflix knows she’s attractive given they’ve put her on the front of all of their promo material
