  1. I think the police can improve their relationship with the LGBTQA community by doing more about violence against trans women, for starters. I think the police can improve their relationship with all marginalized communities by ending qualified immunity. Then, maybe they can expect to be invited to more parties.
  2. Many pride celebrations have hired out security from police before, and many police departments have an entry in the parade and march in it for pr/community outreach- this is not only, or even not mostly officers who are LGBTQA. News media makes this about LGBTQA officers, but police involvement in Pride is rarely that. It’s mostly Police Departments using it as a place to polish their image (corporations do tons of this too and that’s a controversial topic), or policing it as a large gathering. If I had a large event of any kind, I know I wouldn’t want to let the Minneapolis PD use it as an opportunity to look good and friendly to my community.
  3. They can’t ban them from entry, but they can deny applications for a parade entry or a booth.
  4. I am finding it a bit uncomfortable that most of the commentary on this issue both here and elsewhere comes from non-LGBTQAs. I hope some more of our LGBTQA boarders will jump in because it feels gross that the rest of us are arguing about how they should arrange their spaces.
  5. I can’t speak for the LGBTQA community, but I have been told by many members of it that cops are not welcome at Pride in their professional capacity or in uniform for these reasons- —LGBTQA people, those of color and those who are trans specifically, are at greater risk for being victims of police violence than their straight or cis or white counterparts. Many attendees would feel less safe with police presence. -Pride commemorates Stonewall, wherein police were an antagonist against the community. It is not historically appropriate to bring the uniform into that celebration.
  6. Never said he wasn’t, just that those two are within the realms of normal person attractive where the rest of the cast are inhumanly good looking
  7. I kinda liked how Alina and Mal are pretty objectively the least attractive of the cast, which is filled with fabulously attractive people
  8. I don’t necessarily disagree, but for what it’s worth- Kaz *is* hot, in my opinion. He’s played by an actor of a physical type I am into (very pale, skinny, weird, cheekbones). He’s dressed very well. Frankly, this show is brimming with eye candy for male attracted people.
  9. You know what greatly reduces the likelihood you’ll hit someone you didn’t intend to? Not firing the gun.
  10. In my experience, seeing someone else come to great harm or death in front of me is much more harrowing than experiencing it myself- even when I have been the one inflicting it in self defense. I see blood all day every day at work. Body fluids don’t bother me. Seeing a person become a body bothers me.
  11. Have you been stabbed or had someone try to stab you? I have. I can assure you seeing someone shot to death in front of me would have traumatized me a lot more.
  12. Love seeing you swing the mod hammer on the cishets
