Didn't Terry say once that any timeline inconsistencies are the result of the History Monks messing up?

There is one other lasting impact of Sourcery which doesn’t get mentioned till Moving Pictures - Ridcully gets made Archchancellor in large part because he was one of the few wizards who wasn’t involved.

Well, that was quick - one of my colleagues has noticed and asked me why -
There’s the Omnian priest in Carpe Jugulum, and the minor character of Constable Visit in the later Watch books, but the only big connection to later books is Lu Tze

I think the only other time we actually see the inner workings of the Assassins’ Guild is the Vetinari/Downey sections in Night Watch (Vetinari failing his concealment exam because the instructor thought he hadn’t turned up is one of my favourite jokes in the whole series)

I think it’s part of the bank’s latest diversity and inclusion initiative that they have suggested adding pronouns in your e-mail - my boss’s boss who is part of the LGBTQ employee network and quite involved with the D&I stuff was the first person I saw with it. To be clear, a court order is still needed if the kid doesn’t have parental consent, at least until the appeal happens. -

I’ve noticed a couple of people at my work putting their pronouns in e-mail signatures recently, so I added mine as well. On the general anti-trans stuff, you may remember the lawsuit in the English courts that ruled children under 16 couldn’t consent to puberty blockers. The latest update is that they can now be prescribed with parental consent without needing a court order. Also, the Court of Appeal is hearing the full case in June. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/puberty-blockers-children-high-court-ruling-b1823009.html -

I’d go for Guards Guards as the best starting point.

I believe Pratchett's answer to this was that it is Vetinari, but written by a worse writer.

The High Court has made a ruling on puberty blockers https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-55144148 At first look it sounds reasonable, saying that informed consent is required, but reading further makes it seem that the effect will be to make it harder for these to be prescribed. I’m not entirely sure what to make of it. -

I put this in the UK politics thread as well but it fits here, our government has decided not to change the gender recognition laws, meaning no self-ID for trans people and you still need a medical diagnosis to get the gender recognition certificate https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-54246686 Edit: I think it’s a bit disingenuous of the BBC to say women’s rights groups are in favour of this decision, we all know what type of women they are. -

Brexit probably won’t affect LGBT rights, but I imagine Robin won’t want to move here if the economy has gone off a cliff because we hit the worst case scenario. Best to wait and see what deal (if any) we get with the EU before making any decisions on moving here edit: let’s not discuss Brexit itself too much in this thread, I’m just saying it’s something that any potential immigrants will need to take account of -

If she’s an Irish citizen, then she may be OK to move to the U.K. at any time, it depends how Brexit interacts with the Common Travel Area -
Other reasons - it was kept quiet at the time, but after O'Hare died a couple of years back JMS revealed he was struggling with mental health problems.
