Landed Knight

Landed Knight (6/8)

  1. Gave it a 9/10. Would have been an 10 if not for the Kingsmooth(a little underwhelming, especially the part about Euron using his cock to get Dany), and the Sansa scenes. It’s season 6 and LF is still playing her like she is the 11 girl from season 1. Well, after she started plotting against her family and start seeing Jon as a bastard again, I guess it would be more accurate to say book 1 version of Sansa.
  2. That was the way I was doing it anyway. There was a time when the lower limit was a 7, but alas, things change.
  3. If that is the case, maybe this thread should be called how would you rate the book to show adaptation of this episode, so new or just visiting people don't misunderstand what you are rating here. The name of this thread would imply that we are rating the episode overall, not only from a specific point of view.
  4. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_awards_and_nominations_received_by_Game_of_Thrones You have the right to give it a 1 I guess, but some critics might disagree with you. My last posts in the 'criticize without...' thread are over a page or two pages long, but as entertainment value, I rated these last episodes with ratings between 7 and 9(had to round it up to a number, but not by much)
  5. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I have to agree with Vastet, at least for this part of his post. The show(or any show for that matter) is not only about acting and storyline. Yes, some might put a higher emphasis on those two aspects, but there is much more than that with how a show is graded. A 1 rating for a GoT episode should not exist. Also a 10 rating because others give it a 1. Both extremes are silly, and make the rating debate pointless. Since this 1 or 10 trend is going to continue, I suggest we revamp the rating system. Make more polls, for sound, cinematography, acting, effects, story, and calculate your average score. If someone gets a 1 or 10 average, he must be either trolling or certifiably insane. EDIT: there might be a 1-3% chance of getting a perfect score, but a rating of 1 should not exist.
  6. Yes, too obvious. Mel bringing him back in the show wasn't obvious at all. We have only two hints about Jon warging into Ghost, then be resurrected again by Mel or some other force. One in the prologue, and one in Mel’s chapter, when she talks about seeing a man, wolf and man again. Plus, using both fire magic(Mel) and ice magic(warging) add up to the story as a whole, and makes his return different than Beric and LS and all the other zombies out there. I don’t think that moving organs from one place to another, or removing some(who needs two lungs anyway) can be called trimming the fat, but to each his own I guess.
  7. 8,5 for this one. I think they had a bad first episode to make the rest seem better in comparison.
  8. Back in season 1 I made a personal decision to rate the episodes with points from 7(pathetic) to 10(awesome), because even if one episode sucked, it was still asoiaf material, and probably better than 90% of the other shows on tv. After this episode I was forced to lower the bar from 7 to 5. And on this scale I gave it a 6(8 on old scale) only because there were a couple plot lines were I was able to watch the entire scene without mentally preparing my 'Criticise without...' posts. And even those had some minor nitpicks. I really can't understand the producers. They have an one in a lifetime chance to create something monumetal, that will resist the passage of time without losing any of its appeal. But if we strip all the bling and the sets and the clothes and all that it's left is the story, we already see the cracks in what could have been a true masterpiece. Bad dialog, nonsensical plotlines, plot craters the size of Texas, no character progresion or even some instances of character regression. It's like they realised that we'll keep watching even if they turn the show into a cartoon, a musical, a comic parody, or a porn series showcasing all the brothels in both Essos and Westeros. And sadly they are right.
  9. Not only will she 'slay' said giant, but she'll also make a small child cry at the same time. She will become a master of multitasking.
  10. Wanted to gave it a 10, but settled for a 9 because of that Stannis scene. I just can't picture Book Stannis in that position....ever. Thumbs up for the amount of good humour in this episode. Hope they'll keep it up in the next episodes as well.
