Still getting these on the regular. Posting screenshots is extremely annoying on mobile since we don't allow inline images. I don't have this problem at all anywhere else. Getting lots of browser hijacks lately on mobile. I neglected to grab a screen shot, I'll try to remember to get one next time, but it's nontrivially frequent.

Is there no longer a way to view a member's display name history? I can't find it anymore and it was useful to know who someone was after they changed their display name.

Getting the sevmob redirects too, with extreme frequency -- like, on most page loads. It's rendering the site nearly unusable on mobile sometimes.

I'm still getting ads both at the top and at the bottom. The top is stationary, but the bottom one scrolls with the page. Is this the intended behavior? It's super annoying, especially because it disappears when scrolling and then gets redrawn when you stop. Edit: Now I have two SEPARATE banners at the top.

To be clear, it's only the bottom one that moves. The top one is big, but I can scroll down and then it's out of my way.

They're at the top on mobile, yeah. It's big but I prefer it by a LOT to the ones that scroll with you, those are awful. Mobile has limited screen real estate and the ads being omnipresent is an issue. You can close them but the X is so small that I estimate I accidentally click through 4 out of 5 times.

Getting BIG ads on mobile now. Is this the new normal? It's pretty intrusive, although given the option I prefer it to the ones that stay on the bottom as you scroll. Edit: They all seem to be for charitable orgs and similar, and seem to go directly to the groups' websites instead of an ad company's tracking redirect, which is nice. I could get behind this.

Every time we flip post tracking (i.e., whether the active user has posted in a thread) on or off my last read post is cleared and I'm booted back to the beginning of the thread. This is a mild annoyance on the desktop version, but on mobile -- where I read a lot these days -- it's much more obnoxious, because I have to advance one page at a time. Pain in the ass on longer threads. If we are going to have it off frequently, could it just be left off? Turning it back on for 12 hours at a time is more of a hassle than just leaving it off would be.

I've only read three Kay books, ranked like so from best to worst: 1. Tigana 2. The Lions of Al-Rassan 3. The Summer Tree This ranking doesn't tell the whole story on its own. I really enjoyed Tigana, and I'm prepared to say I thought it was a good book. I know plenty of other people hate it, but it struck a chord for me. This is the only book on the list I am pleased to have listed here. The Lions of Al-Rassan is a ferociously readable terrible book. The further I get from it the more it annoys me. Everything is too pat in the worst, most David Eddings sort of way. Everyone is too witty, the two main characters are too perfect, everything is too neat and tidy and predictable. The Summer Tree is a piece of shit. Plain and simple. Absolute derivative garbage. I couldn't get through it because I hated it too much. I haven't read any Kay since Al-Rassan. I am not entirely convinced that my life is the poorer for it.

After all these years, why is it still so goddamned hard to change avatars? I'm attempting to re-use an avatar I've used before on Gravatar; no matter what, I have to do a damned rain dance to get it to update. Removing the photo always works right away, but not updating the Gravatar image.

I've been trying to get my avatar to change since before 10am this morning (Eastern, so about four and a half hours now). I'm using Gravatar. I added and selected the new av at Gravatar, and came back here and tried to change it, and it seems to accept the change but it never changes anywhere except on the photo select dialog. I asked Ran privately at the time, and he thought it might be a caching issue and I should give it a while and see if it would work itself out, but my display avatar is still the same. Oddly, I can remove the avatar no problem and go back to not having one. If I reselect Gravatar afterwards, even though it shows the correct preview picture, the old one still shows across the board. Any thoughts? Process-wise, I went to my settings and chose "Change photo." Gravatar was already selected with the correct email populated, but I clicked the radio button anyway and clicked "Done," and then I went down to the bottom of the settings page and clicked "Save changes." I've done this several times now. If anything about this is wrong, I'd love to know. EDIT: After 8 hours of it not updating, I gave up and linked it to imgur, which apparently is allowed again.
