  1. Why do you care? Fuck them. Pandering to the lowest common denominator is why 99% of entertainment sucks. This show was already renewed for a second season.
  2. 8 As I'm not emotionally attached to Fire and Blood as a book (and therefor dont shit a brick every time a change is made that i dont agree with) I find that im enjoying this show. Didn't find the episode boring, and was bummed when it ended.
  3. Fire and Blood has a bunch of unreliable narrators, IIRC?
  4. The gore was definitely unnecessary, imo. Come to think of it the entire thing lacked...beauty. I averted my eyes a bit too often, and other than Harrenhall wasn't struck with wonder or admiration for mostly anything i saw.
  5. Wondered about that as well. Does anyone have any ideas? Looking at you @Ran The Song of Ice and Fire prophesy sort of tracks based on what we know about Rhaegar's obsession with it, but it still felt a bit silly. Like, "Hey I have this secret about the world ending at some point in the future but I'm only telling you." Weird strategy, that. I did enjoy the "Promise me" line, and the constant attention given to the dagger.
  6. Around 3 hours. But we also introduced a second set of PCs into the world. That being said, as a DM, i DO like to take progression slow. I feel it allows for the players to be creative with what they have, without constantly getting more. Does that make sense?
  7. Do yourself a huge favor and remember to do that. RIP sir =(
  8. How are your games going? Our Eberron campaign, which I mentioned above, just had its 42nd session and we're still just ramping up. Players are 6th level, which i feel is a pretty nice and steady progression rate.
  9. Finished my re-read of Reaper's Gale, and now on to Toll the Hounds. I remember this book an incredibly rough and boring read the first time around.
  10. So our Eberron campaign with Gert and Mentat is still going strong, a year later. Good times. Anyone have any recent D&D stories?
  11. Thanks. Right, got that part, but how did Bakker troll anyone?
  12. Can someone explain, in language simple enough for me to comprehend, what the fuck solo and Kal are talking about?
  13. that's quite the epic re-read. How is it going so far?
  14. No worries, talk about it all you want. The violence IS really over the top sometimes, and i feel the same way as you do about the violence towards women. The hobbling or whatever in one of the books was so fucking disgusting i couldnt read it for a week. I get what Erikson is doing, and why, but it can be hard to take at times, for sure.
  15. Haha, i actually remember you hating on Karsa back in the day. Funny how much random shit my memories retains. I like his origin story, actually, but he does get rather annoying in later books. I really enjoyed Midnight Tides (second fav book in the series), but unlike most people i don't find Memories of Ice to be all that great.
  16. I don't know...i found it to be pretty poorly written when i first read it, and never felt the need to re-read. Is my memory incorrect?
  17. Re-reading the Malazan Book of the Fallen. Skipping Gardens of the Moon. Just finished Deadhouse Gates and I have this weird desire to jump right into House of Chains and go back to Memories of Ice after. Can someone tell me why this is a BAD idea?
  18. I've read the first 5 stories, and ran the firt one. Thus far, none of them are good...
  19. The beauty of D&D is the collaborative story telling that allows you to create a world that exists pretty much ONLY at the table you are playing, in the minds of the people you are playing with. Thinking of it in those terms will also help you remember to allow other's to talk. As a DM I had a session last week where i spoke maybe 3 times in one hour. I spent the rest of the time listening to my players RP.
  20. Anyone that wants to drop into our Discord and chat bout d&d or eavesdrop on campaigns can join here - https://discord.gg/hezvfXxX Link is good for 24hrs
  21. We are playing Tuesdays at 6pm GMT+1. Sessions are around 3 hours. If you want to sit in on a session let me know!
