  1. Aw come on, it was a facetious quip while I positively compared his work to Dweeb and Dumbfuck's. Also the internet is such that you never really know if a photo is actually perwonal, so...
  2. Having her sass at Myranda like they're rivals in a high school drama was still moronic though. ETA: as another actor, I'm thoroughly unimpressed by Sophie Turner but apparently it's just me.
  3. Your second point is a bit iffy given the differences between the contemporary show written by dashing young men's treatment of the theme vs. the original, fat dirty old dork's work - even in my non-SJW interpretation of it :D but yeah, enough of this
  4. I didn't bring it up, and I'm not that interested. I'm just defending the author of the books from being equated with those of the show. You seriously, honestly think that was GRRM's intent there?
  5. I quoted the passage with her feelings and her thoughts in it. And her physical reactions too. Not much else I can do at this point.
  6. She said yes and she meant it. She does not hope the Dothraki warlord backs off. And yes, that's hardly believable and a sketchy sexual fantasy to boot. What it is NOT is a rape fantasy.
  7. She also wanted it physically. Is that sketchy? Sure. Is it still statutory rape and an arranged marriage? Yes. Does the intent behind the scene remotely resemble D&D's motives for wanting it "as brutal as possible"? I dunno, you tell me.
  8. Because they thought it sucked? Just a wild guess. It's not like this thread is full of explanatory posts.
  9. Dany was never raped at all n the books. The whole point of the wedding night scene is that all she needs to do is say no. She then endures the rough treatment for a while because she's clueless and wants to be tough but as soon as she changes her strategy Drogo proves to be understanding and even compliant. I don't think it works out too badly in the show, despite the wedding night rape, because they stuck to the text for the following episodes. Maybe it comes off more as taming a savage brute than just sexually educating a clueless but fundamentally good man, which is iffy on a number of levels, but heh... At any rate, the scene that D&D so passionately wanted to change is only salvaged by keeping the later scenes untouched. Which tells me all I need to know.
  10. Yeah that guy joined yesterday, dedicated 100% of his posting to insults and crying about criticism of the show, and so completely lacks self-awareness that he keeps mentioning trolls, sock puppets and whiners :D let it go already
  11. The HoBaW stuff was good if you read the books. I doubt anyone who hasn't read them had the slightest idea what the fuck was going on.
  12. That's nonsense. Are we supposed to pretend every single episode of The Wire or The Sopranos or whatever you consider the pinnacle of good TV had a main character raped, another one murdered, an epic battle and a bunch of CGI dragons flying around so that the viewers would stay interested? You can EASILY make an entire season just out of Cersei's shenanigans in KL, and make it some of the best TV ever made. And the same is even true for Dany in Meereen. But for that you need to be able to tell a STORY about CHARACTERS, not move cardboard cutouts along a series of plot points with bro-bonding, cock jokes and pointless fight scenes to glue the whole thing together.
  13. While you clearly have been a staple of this forum for years. I don't understand how it's even possible that those who enjoy the show get more enraged and offensive at criticism of it by random people on the internet than those who despise it get at the butchering of some of their favorite books????
  14. 3/10 It's... kind of entertaining. Like Xena or Hercules with high production values. I'm a sucker for B-grade stuff so I can enjoy it. If it wasn't based on a masterpiece I'd probably... wait, if it wasn't based on a masterpiece I wouldn't be on a forum talking about it.
  15. None of the people who come here are representative of the general public. In truth, the average unsullied who doesn't know anything about the story outside the show has no idea what the fuck is happening and who are those people and why they should care. Unless you want to include those who watch for boobs and gore and those who watch because they're gonna be zoning out in front of their TV anyway and nothing else is on, your objection to these polls is rather moot.
  16. I'm not sure I'm following your argument. Is it that, since opinions can differ, facts do not exist? Am I entitled to my opinion if I think, e.g., that the moon is made of cheese? Or was taste the word you were looking for? And in that case, can I have your argument regarding the absolute subjectivity of taste? Because, possibly due to my embarassing lack of basic education, I have always figured that if someone thought Lady Gaga was better than J.S. Bach they were just, you know, wrong.
  17. Oh I wasn't implying you were a shill. Just clearly in the defensive spot, and not in any position to comment on other people's use of their precious time... As for the rest, people have beeen arguing that the show HAS gone off the rails and become stupid and all you do is keep hacking at a strawman. Even the omission of "fetch me a block" is a lot more than just a missing line.
  18. People love the books, had high hopes for the show, were compelled at first, disappointed afterwards, and voiced their opinions. Nothing strange about that. Eventually they may give up, or still feel compelled to watch because they love the original story. Again nothing strange. Your motivations for defending a TV show that is in no way your creation are actually a lot more interesting than people's motivations for criticizing it.
  19. u wot m8 If that's the average viewer's definition of "making sense" I guess D&D can get away with pretty much whatever. Nobody left for regency? How about Kevan, Mace, goddamn even Pycelle has a better chance to be picked as Hand than LF. And yeah, LF would totally plan to put Stan on the throne because there's no chance that would end up badly for him. And it's not like the Tyrells would object.
  20. Oh alright Edric dayne - dorne - 299 - left the BwB after Beric Dondarrion's death
