Ice and fire freak
It's easy to second guess yourself sometimes in these books and one bit that often gets me is the part where Jon has a couple of bodies put in some ice cells to presumably learn about how they become white walkers,am I just dreaming this part up and if not did anything come of it?Sorry for being a bit vague but I can't find it in the books. Blutraven
Jon put some corpses in the ice cells hoping they'd turn into Wights so he could study them, but they never rose.
Ice and fire freak
Ahh thank you,so there every possibility that they could still turn up then I guess?
Ice and fire freak
Jon has one of the Karstarks in an ice cell too,not sure about the proximity but that could be nasty?
Roland Deschain of Gilead
Jon has one of the Karstarks in an ice cell too,not sure about the proximity but that could be nasty?Yeah something bad might happen there, but I always pictured the ice cells are pretty secure (3 walls of solid ice, one of steel). I'm sure Cregan will, sadly, be fine.

Stannis Eats No Peaches
Wight = ice zombies raised by the OthersWhite Walkers = the show's name for the OthersConfusing? Blame the show. They somehow thought you're not likely to confuse GoT with Lost than wights with White Walkers.

Two names for the same thing. Though it is funny that they tried to avoid confusion with a previous show (Others/Lost) only to unwillingly produce further and greater confusion with other popular show (Walkers/The Walking Dead). edit: Ninja'd
Ser Greg of House House
Btw, about the Ice Cell thing, now that I think about it I suppose it could be meant to show us that they're not "regular zombies" but the work of necromancers. Yes I know, but it's used just the once (I think) by an old lady telling a story to a child. The name looks like a childish substitute to me, which is why the show annoys me. DaveSnow House Stark
Ok, maybe I am missing something, but there are two separate items. Wights and Others are not the same. I thought the Others were a higher form and basically leading the wights?
thegloriousedd
So if they never rose to be wights in the ice cells, could that foreshadow jon being put there so he won't turn into a wight?
