Lady Blizzardborn
I was thinking more of the covers sort of matching, in that they go well together. But actually, my set still won't match because four are paperback and one is hardcover. But back to the song... I'm dreaming of The Winds of Winter... ..to match the books I have at home...Where Daenerys kicks butt, and Cersei's a slut, and poor Benjen's forced to roam. Lady Blizzardborn
Sleigh bells ring, are you listenin'?In the lane, blood is glistenin'.A terrible sight, we're freezing tonight,Walkin' in a Westeros Wonderland. Gone away is the Ned bird. Here to stay is a dead bird. It's colder than ice, and that isn't nice.Walkin' in a Westeros Wonderland. At the big Wall we can fight the Others. And pretend we're really close to dawn. We'll lose lots of fathers, sons and brothers. And still the icy zombies soldier on.... Later on, they'll expire, cause we used frozen fire, and faced unafraid, the problems we madeWalkin' in a Westeros Wonderland. What do you think...brilliant or insane? And keep in mind I'm half-asleep here.
yomi
You know Joffrey and Tommen and Ramsay and Gendry,Cotter and Mya and Tyene and Edric, but do you recallthe most mentioned bastard of all? Jon Snow, the Starkish bastard, had a very Starkish look, and if you ever saw himyou might even think he's Ned's. Although the other Stark kidsused to laugh and play with him, their mother let poor Jon Snowsuffer for his father's crime. Then one snowy summer day,Benjen came to say:"Jon Snow with your Starkish look, won't you join the Watch for life?" Oh, how did Catelyn love this, and she shouted out with glee:"Jon Snow, my husband's bastard, you'll go up there to the Wall!"

yomi
Well, the english version is not about Jon Snow, but became a prayer to the Red God instead. Silent night, icy night, all is dark, Lord of Light!Full of terrors, horrors and fear,Holy R'hllor, so heavy to bear!Save us with your warmth!Save us with your light! Lady Blizzardborn
That's much nicer than what Google Translate gave me, yomi. I figure GT is wrong a good share of the time though, so I should really find a Spanish speaker to beta-read my new novel.
yomi
Well, it isn't a translation, I just took once the german and once an english first verse of the song and altered them. The german would translate to something like this: Silent night, icy night, everyone sleeps. Just the loyal, sworn corps keeps a lonely watch.Bastardboy with dark brown hair, this wall is yours, this wall is yours. But I've got no idea how to fit this text to the song. Well, translating poetry is difficult even for professional translators, AFAIK. :dunno: (The non-Westeros version was: Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht!Alles schläft, einsam wachtNur das traute, hochheilige Paar.Holder Knabe im lockigen Haar,Schlaf in himmlischer Ruh,Schlaf in himmlischer Ruh. That would translate to something like this: Silent night, holy night, everyone sleeps. Just the beloved, sacrosanct pair keeps a lonely watch.Lovely boy with curly hair, sleep in heavenly calm, sleep in heavenly calm.)
