Howland Reeds Weed Swamp
So I was watching yes,the Hodor scene of Hodor yelling into a well and I had this strange feeling it was like he was trying find someone. Looking down, puzzled and yelling his favourite word. Perhaps in his dreams he sort of had this friend called Hodor who speaks to him and Walder alway believes he is there. Hodor follows on his travels and Walder is sort of mesmerised by him. Imaginary friend to be put simply. It would be logical otherwise this guy constantly yelling "Hodor" is purely comical reasons. I would be surprised if no one has mentioned this before.

butterbumps!
"I am Walder's smirking revenge" (this actually might not be that batshit. Bran might not have been the first to inhabit him in some way)
Howland Reeds Weed Swamp
Bloodraven and mind influence... Or some other greenseer or magical entity. I didn't think of that and that's interesting. I thought more:Hodor was just mentally alone in his younger days and his only things were Old nans tales and his imaginary friend. Fai
Hodor probably means 'mother' in ancient tongue.
Lady Blizzardborn
How would he have learned this imaginary friend's name? Hodor probably means 'mother' in ancient tongue. That's possible but then why does he say "mother" to everything? Hodor is a brand of Westerosi whiskey. The poor guy's just been trying to get a drink all this time. ;)
