Story-wise, I love the chapters taking place in King's Landing. But the Crownlands as a whole is not a particularly attractive area.

I don't hate the Stormlands either, they have great characters like Stannis, The Laughing Storm and the Marches Lords. But I just like the other regions more.

Having read the Tales of Dunk and Egg, the Reach goes up VERY high on my list. Dunk and Egg REALLY paints the Reach as an immersive feudal landscape and the heartland of chivalry.

In a sense, the Iron Islands represent the antithesis of the Reach.

Whereas everything about the Reach is about tradition, rules and rigid social strata, the Iron Islands are about unbound freedom and a true meritocracy, with every captain a King on his/her own ship. And they have a really interesting Kingsmoot to boot!
