I wouldn't say this is true (and thank the Lord for that as she can be annoying), BUT, she's certainly much more important than many other characters and deserves quite a bit of screentime. Yeah the first few times I watched it, it really didn't make any sense, but think there was sort of purpose to it. Tyrion was basically saying that people are being killed as much as his cousin smashing beetles. She's a main character and other main characters (Tyrion,jaime,cersei,arya,sansa) have had just as much screen time or more screen time than her. I don't really think there is "the main character" Yes Tyrion, Jon, and Dany are major characters in both the books and the show, but it does not completely revolve around them.
