The sea god and the goddess of the wind?

In ACOK Catelyn III we get the story of Storm's End, Durrans marriage to Elenei and his ensuing war with the sea god and the goddess of the wind.

1. Who are these gods? Are these the gods of the first men before they converted to the religion of the COTF?

2. Is there a reason given to why, or what caused the first men to convert to The COTF's religion?

3. Is it plausible that a race would entirely convert over to a foreign religion, or is there still some groups of people who still worship the first men's first religion?

1)  It seems that they were the Gods of the First Men before they accepted the God's of the Children of the Forest aka the Old Gods.

2)  Could have been part of the Pact between the Children and the First Men. Could have been the men witnessing the power of Greenseers and other servants of the Old Gods. We don't know for sure.

3)  It has happened before both in our world and in Planetos.  The sea god could have been an earlier form of the Drowned God of the Ironborn. In fact its odd that Elenei is the daughter of the god of the sea and the goddess of the wind. While the Drowned god appears to be at war with the Storm God.

It's very probable that this is an instance where we get hints about the former religion of the First Men. This crops up in two other places, as well, with some interesting variations.

Catelyn's story of the building of Storm's End:

Durran Godsgrief wed Elenei, daughter of the sea god and the goddess of the wind.

Godric Borrell's story of the old religion on the Sisters

"Storms were sacred on the Sisters before the Andals came. Our gods of old were the Lady of the Waves and the Lord of the Skies. They made storms every time they mated."

Ironborn religion

the Drowned God vs the Storm God

After Dorne's arm was broken, any First Men coming to Westeros would have to have been seafaring.  Seafaring people believing in sea gods makes a lot of sense.  The Ironborn still have that way of life and religion.

It also makes sense once you've been grounded, to eventually convert to an earth-based religion.  Especially if any of the First Men married with the CotF.
