Prince Lodey
This is the initial thread to discuss activities and attendees for Worldcon 2006 in Los Angeles/Anaheim, CA, Wednesday August 23- Sunday, August 27th, 2006. Please post if you are Definite, Probably, Maybe, or Probably not going to the event. The guest of honor is Connie Willis. More information can be found here on Worldcon in LA. Blackfyre Heir has agreed to co-Chair the BwB's efforts for this Worldcon and we are expecting over 100 BwBers to be in attendance - which will make for some amazing times. Feel free to ask questions, give suggestions, and let us know your status. If your status changes - please post the change so we can keep a tally. Big thanks to Mormont , Daj & GoN, and all the other hard-working BwBers for making Interaction 2005 an amazing event - excellent work!!! Congratulations to the RAVEN winners for 2006 - mormont and Skylark the Red - come and honour these lovely folks. ROOMS ARE OPEN: at the Hilton (party hotel) and Marriot - 4 suggestions: 1. Book right now - even if you are a maybe - Rooms fill up VERY fast 2. Book a day or two before and after your planned stay (see #3) 3. You can cancel your room or days up to 3 days before the con and your credit card isn't charged - much, much easier to cancel a night or two instead of trying to add a night or two. 4. There are always last-minute BwB-additions, if you end up finding a roommate or needing to cancel your room, you can transfer your reservation over to a BwBer in need. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The BwB open-party theme for Worldcon 2006 is . . . "The Bounty of Highgarden vs. The Vengeance of Dorne" Maester of Revelies is going to be Blackfyre Heir - he is going to make sure the open Worldcon party retains its title as Worldcon's #1 party (acknowledged as such by GRRM in A Feast for Crows). With Dorne or Highgarden bars, t-shirts, stickers, etc. it will be interesting to see which way the revelers go. As Robert said, "In Highgarden there are fields of golden roses that stretch away as far as the eye can see. The fruits are so ripe they explode in your mouth: melons, peaches, fireplums, you've never tasted such sweetness. Flowers everywhere, the markets bursting with food, the summerwines so cheap and so good that you can get drunk just breathing the air. Everyone is fat and drunk and rich." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The BwB-only party for Worldcon 2006 is currently planned for a lanai suite with 2 extra bedrooms (the same room where we will have the open-party on Saturday night. Aghrivaine, Aegon Blutarsky and others will be throwing together this fun, private Gathering. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is a preliminary itinerary for folks on events: Actual Worldcon-sanctioned events in planning: BwB Human Chess directed by GRRM - run by BH - featuring the battle between Dorne and Highgarden BwB Meet & Greet - providing more info on the BwB, products, and optional attendance by GRRM and Parris Thursday evening: party hop at hotels - time for the BwB to get out again and enjoy the efforts of all the other fan groups and bid groups throwing cool parties in LA - represent! Friday evening: BwB-only party - we are confirmed with a Hilton suite - parlor with 2 adjoining rooms! Saturday evening: BwB Open Party - also night of the Hugo Awards. We are set for having a suite with 2 side-rooms for both Friday and Saturday nights. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LIST OF ATTENDEES OR POSSIBLE ATTENDEES: DEFINITE (100%) Aegon Blutarsky Aghrivaine Aoife Asha Greyjoy Balefont Blackfyre Heir Bronn Stone & girlfriend Caress of Cersei & Z Chataya Coyotes Daughter Cuellar Dajamieson & Ghost of Nymeria daremo DaveAx Davos & Odie Dolorous Edd DrunkenDornishPrincess Elgernon the Nightraven Fenryng & Regina Filippa Eilhart Frisco Ghosts companion Iseult of the White Hands Jaehaerys Jedi Freac Juliana juliewash and husband Kalbear Katran King Jon Targaryen LacyB Lady Oleana Lany Cassandra LindaElane lockesnow Maester Lupo Nero Maid Sansa mak Maltaran Mandiric & girlfriend (Infelice) Melisandre`s twisted sister Mich & boyfriend Mormont mouse and mr. mouse Mya Stone Padraig Payne Rooney Prod RaceBannon42 Reny of Storms End Rhelle Ser Ilyn Payne Ser Sean Ser Paddy Skylark the Red Sly of the Kingsguard snowleo SpellboundSP StegoKing and Lady Stego Syrra and significant other Telisiane The Sea King's Daughter The Stranger The Winter Wolf Veira Watcher WatcherOne Xavier Xray the Enforcer & Mr. X Yagathai Young Wolf Zakalwe7 Zollo ----------------------------------------- PROBABLY (80%) aeu anya rivers Banipal dirjj Edd Tollett Magg the Mighty MakBoz Monboddo new damn name Psilocide Son of Hot Pie Sophelia TeriPettit Toryx ----------------------------------------- MAYBE (50%) bastard of godsgrace Cave Dweller of Thenn Dalla with Child and Vico dtswampa Grimmwolf Lothor Apple-Eater Maestress of the Sword MakahaBoy Space Kelso TrackerNeil
Padraig
The BwB-only party for Worldcon 2006 is currently planned as a retreat . . . To Mr. and Mrs. Aegon Blutarsky's palace for BBQ, pool party, drinks, and hanging out with George, and Parris and their invited guests. Wow...didn't notice this before. Thanks Aegon. That's pretty awesome. Hope you are ready for 100 of us. Probably need a couple of buses just to get us there.

Maestress of the Sword
Please put me down for a "Maybe" for at least part of the week's festivities. Do you know if George and Parris might come to the Friday and Saturday events? I'd love to meet Parris, who sounds like an awesome woman, and will probably not be able to take time off during the middle of the week.
Padraig
Hey...cool Kelso. Would be fun to see you there. And yes Maestress, GRRM and Parris will definitely be around both nights. You have to be at a WC to believe it, but they both spend a huge amount of time with us. Partying late into the night, going to barbies etc.
Maestress of the Sword
Has there been any talk about what ASOIF related gift to give George next year? My boyfriend (Joe) and I have an idea. How about comissioning a Song of Ice and Fire song cycle, including: -The Dornishman's Wife -Rains of Castamere and, of course, -The Bear and the Maiden Fair and there are lyrics for the song Sansa sings for Sandor (ACoK), Outlaw Brothers of the Kingsguard (SoS), and Maiden of the Tree (SoS). Other songs that are mentioned could be included, but we'd need lyrics to work with... I know Joe would LOVE to take on such a project. Though I'm certainly a biased judge, he could do a darn good job of it. He's a master's student in Composition at the SF Conservatory, and has won song and choral music writing competitions. He adores medieval/renaissance music and could come up with part music for guitar and tin whistle that we could perform at the Con, or record. We could come up with a hand-made set of "scores" (illustrated?) as well. Anyone know how we would go about recieving permission from George/Parris/Bantam to do this?
