The Anti-Targ
Didn't Yahztee tear this one apart a couple of weeks back? I mean, not that means anything as he tears everything apart, but this one came in for special approbrium. Is this the WWII-but-not one where bad guys can attack you even when it's not their turn for some reason?Who's Yahtzee? Metacritic has it at 87.Yes the bad guys get to shoot back on your turn, and you get to counter attack on their turn. It all evens out. So it looks like Cyanide might be trying out various genres:Set in a world where nothing is simply black and white, the rich web of characters makes it an ideal background for numerous genres of video games. Anatole Kuragin
So it looks like Cyanide might be trying out various genres:I read that quote more as a "there are a couple ways we could do this" type thing, not a "we're going to do this a couple ways" type thing. The Anti-Targ
@ HeadWound Oh I was writing figuratively not literally. Someone who is particularly known and renowned for trashing far more games than he praises doesn't have a great deal of credibility. Seems like he is more into self promotion than giving people a good steer on whether a game is worth playing.@ AnatoleYeah could be, though there are examples of source material that is used for more than one genre of game. The Halo universe being one of the latest such examples. Sure they won't parallel develop 2 or 3 game genres from the start, but if the first game they release is a success there is no reason they can't move into other genres, unless they are a one trick pony developer who only work in one genre.
