Athelstane
If any of you mods think this thread is frivolous, feel free to delete it.So to start, I know Pyp and Grenn are Jon's two "friends" at Castle Black, remind me who the other kid is (the one who Ghost threatens while he's sleeping). Is that Rast? And looking into the future, JH is from Braavos as well, so we should hear some more "it is known" and "just so" after Syrio plays his part, right? Maltaran
Yes, it's Rast.Jaqen is not from Braavos, he's from Lorath.

In the books there were Halder and Albett too but they were pretty much throwaway characters and have been reduced to extras in the show. The faceless man was from Braavos but not the JH character so we might not get any Braavos lingo from him until his last moments. But eventually we'll get a earful of it in the AFFC season when Arya travels to Braavos.
Gildenlow
To your first question, yes, that's Rast. In the book Halder did a lot of what Rast does, but they've seem to have cut Halder (and Matthar and the rest of Jon's 'class' that aren't Pyp/Grenn/Rast) so Rast gets his role as well.Edit: Whoops, I was slow! Dalfiatach
Jaqen was a Lorathi but of course that was just his current disguise, we don't know where The Faceless Man Formerly Known As Jaqen H'ghar was originally from...or even if it matters, as all Faceless Men are "no one".Also, do we know that Syrio Forel was Braavosi? He was First Sword to the ruler of Braavos for 9 years, but I'm not sure if we ever hear where he was actually born and raised....or what he was doing in King's Landing for Ned to hire him. Xray the Enforcer
[mod] Let's stay on topic, please. If you want to argue the true identity of Syrio Forel, take it to the appropriate thread in the book forums. Thank you. [/mod]

Xray the Enforcer
So i forget but loras and renly were definitely not gay for each other correct? In the books, they were most certainly gay lovers. For a refresh, read the following chapters in ASOS: the Sansa chapter where Ser Loras escorts her to a meeting with the Lannisters and the Jaime chapter where he and Brienne return to King's Landing and they meet Ser Loras on arrival (relevant quote from Jaime [i've paraphrased it here] "drop your sword or I'll stick it someplace even Renly didn't find.") Finally, GRRM has confirmed in multiple interviews the intimate nature of their relationship.

I must've subconsciously denied the intimacy of their relationship when i read it.

Edda van Heefmstra Ruston
Going based on the A Wiki of Ice and Fire page, the houses that stayed with the Targaryens, at least temporarily:Great houses:TyrellMartellLesser houses:GraftonFellCafferenGrandisonConningtonTarlyRedwyneDarryMootonRygerother houses of the CrownlandsPossibly individuals rather than houses:ThorneRykkerRossartAnd of course Lannister and Frey stayed out of it pretty much until everything had been decided. Ratty
In addition to the above list I seem to recall in an Arya chapter it being mentioned that House Goodbrook supported the Targaryens as well and as punishment Hoster Tully razed one of their villages and salted the earth. This came from ASOS when Arya is wandering with the brotherhood. Also and I might be misremembering on this one, House Corbray from the Vale actually started out supporting the targaryens and after defeat at the gates of Gulltown swapped sides and joined in the rebellion, I'm assuming this possible incorrect half remembered fact is from a Sansa chapter from AFFC. tarantella
Is there any particular reason Stannis isn't in King's Landing or on the small council, other than his not caring much for his brother or most anyone else? I think I remember him complaining to Davos about how he was treated after the end of the rebellion.
