Mayhem
Out of all the deaths in Asoiaf, Maester Aemon's saddened me the most. He had just found out about Daenerys and her dragons, and we was traveling to see his last living family member. Then he died :( I usually don't get emotional over stories, but when i read this "The night before he died, he asked if he might hold the babe," Gilly went on. "I was afraid he might drop him but he never did. He rocked him and hummed a song for him, and the baby reached up and touched his face. The way he pulled his lip I thought he might be hurting him but it only made the old man laugh." it brought tears to my eyes
Queen Regent
Yeah, I found his death really sad too. I think he was old and knew death was near. So sad, he wanted to badly to meet Dany and those dragons!

Roose Seal
Aemon's tale is a sad one indeed. When he tells about how the gods tested his vows in GoT was one of the best scenes. And yeah his death was one of the saddest parts of the books so far.
Dr. Killjoy
For me, that was the sadest Death in the hole Series so far. Realy touching, not shocking like tywins death.
Lpearce7
Yeah it was a rough one. I knew he would die before reaching Oldtown, but when Sam reflected on his last words, it made it hard. He sounded so excited about the "promised prince" and how he was wrong about the dragon's gender. It would have made for an amazing meeting if he had lived. Dany would have profited greatly from the old man's council. It was also sad b/c he was the oldest living person in Westeros.

The guy from the Vale
I have to admit I found the maesters' deaths the most heart-wrenching of the books. Maester Cressen, Maester Luwin, Maester Aemon. When they died, I couldn't help but cry. And Maester Aemon was the saddest. He was extremely old, and you could see it coming back from AGoT, but still I would have loved for him to live a little longer, tell us a little more... The Roaring Bear
yeah... its so much sadder when a 100+ year old dies in his sleep than when a 16 year old is murdered by arrows and being stabbed in the heart at his uncle's wedding.
Shaggy Rickon
Don't be a dire donkey medievalist. Aemon's death is a huge loss to the night's watch and westros. In the end his desperate desire to meet his kin which didn't happen. It was sad. As far as Robb is concerned, bran, rickon, arya and Sansa needed that to justify the ruthless ferocity they are going to display. Atleast that's what I wish would happen. Oh jar jar give me some stark badassery
