GRRM killed off one ordinary looking, middle-age, loyal, religious, Baratheon brother loving, nice guy, family man POV and replaced him with another. Davos' saving of Edric Storm was the same thing Ned would have done if he found the Targ kids first and his washing up on Sweetsister plays out the same way Eddard's trip did in the past. I know Dragons aren't supposed to have gender, but in nature female animals are often larger, more aggressive and duller colored than their male counterparts. Danny's strong connection with Drogon, and how Drogon's actions often mirror Danny's hopes also made me think (s)he is more girlish, and therefore needs a more girly name than the name inherited from her very manly late husband xDThat's funny. I was fostering three kittens, one white, one black, one orange and named them after Dany's dragons. The black one, Drogon, was female.
