How would it come to this marriage? Maybe Catelyn would not have fled after Renly's death, but brookered this as an alliance? That Robb bends the knee to Stannis and abdicate as King in the North and as compensation gets to marry Stannis heir?

So we would have an alliance between Stannis and parts of the north earlier and more powerful. With Stannis' and Robb's action coordinated, Robb could distract the Lannister forces while Stannis attacks King's Landing giving him a higher chance to win. Maybe he would still loose the battle, but he would loose less men, the Tyrells on the other hand more. So we would still have a stronger force to defend/ retake the north from Ironborn, Bolton's and the like, whereas the Tyrells would be weakened and Cersei thus maybe less paranoid of them.

What if Catelyn was barren?

Tommen would have cared more about Sansa's plea for Ned and wouldn't have executed him. Ned might thus be used to brooker a peace with the North. The kingsguard could behave more knightly because Tommen wouldn't order them to beat his betrothed. Sansa wouldn't be as desperate to escape King Tommen's court and might have been more sceptical about offers to get her away. Tommen might have been displeased about Ser Dontos being totally drunk on his namesday tourney, but he wouldn't have threatened to kill him for that and Sansa thus couldn't have saved him. Sansa wouldn't have told the Tyrells that the King is a monster (because he isn't), thus there would have been no purple wedding. Oh, and Lady might still live, because the whole Mycah incident would have been different.

What if Balon had fallen of a bridge by accident long before Theon returned to Pyke?

Well, Bran couldn't have catched them fucking, so Jaime wouldn't have thrown him out of a window. Bran would have travelled south with Ned to Catelyn's disappointment. Maybe Arya would have trained at swords with her brother instead of Mycah. Joffrey would likely still consider this to be wrong, but I doubt he would dare to openly attack a lord's child back then.

We might get three dire wolf pups in KL, although I wonder if they could be of any help.

What if Gared did not panicly run south and desert after Waymar's and Will's deaths but dutifully returned to Castle Black and reported his observations?
