TheGreatstag
We all know GRRM was planning for a 5 year time-jump for AFFC but later shelved it. There is no way a similar thing can be done for the final two installments. Winter is meant to be as long as the summer, and the summer was one of the longest in recent decades. We only caught the end of that summer which was ~9 years long from memory. So assuming A Dream of Spring catches the end of Winter, will the next two books cover around a 9 year period? Will time be accelerated by long months holed up in castles trying to cope with the Winter?
Kienn
The characters will solve the problem of strangely long seasons and Planetos will return to a normal cycle.Or a Long Summer doesn't necessarily mean an equally Long Winter, that's simply a popular meme in Westeros. IRON BANK
GRRM has stated the seasons revolve around a magical nature that will be explained in the next two books.

Prince of the Green
Paraphrasing a truly infuriating phrase my father used in my youth: 'The book will be out when it is out.'That's the best we can hope for. Good news, however, is that the Mayans were wrong, so we don't have to worry about the Armageddon as well as the release date of The Winds of Winter.
