They say his generosity was so touching even Brandon got a little choked up over it.Aerys was also concerned about winter coming and the fact that the population of King`s Landing would probably freeze to death without his help, so he had the pyromancers put caches of wildfire (from his own supplies I should add) in strategic places all around KL, so that when winter does come, nobody will freeze to death.
