Jacob Clouw
When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east," said Mirri Maz Duur. "When the seas go dry and mountains blow in the wind like leaves. When your womb quickens again, and you bear a living child. Then he will return, and not before.Okay so ive been think about this prophecy for a while. Lately i have been under the assumption that Quentyn could be the sun rising in the west and setting in the east. The Martell's are the sun and spear. Quentyn did travel from the west and died in the east. Pretty straight forward in my mind. What i could use is some help on the other two parts of the prophecy. The only thing i can think of is that the dothraki sea could be the sea in reference. When it comes to the mountains i am completely lost.
Vivec
I've always thought that the bit about the womb quickening and bearing a living child was refering to the fact that she's having her '' . '' again and her living child is Drogon. And It's been said that the Dothraki Sea is going dry or something like that, something about it running out of people/things to pillage, less resources. I don't know about the Mountain part though, maybe it's Gregor Clegane being dead? I don't know. Welcome to the boards!
YorEmixam
It's mountainS , plurial so Im not incline to say Gregor, mountain man/clans? Maybe volcanoes?
Leonardo
Have you ever thought these are just the words of a woman full of vengeance and triumph in getting it; they were meant to hurt Dany. Dany was an idiot for ever taking her words seriously, this is the not the house of the undying where the stuff had actual relevance. She didn't know Dany was going to birth dragons; that probably would have been a more important foresight on her part, so why the hell would we ever trust her about this? Doctor Weirwood
I've seen it said on here that the sun is Quentyn, the sea drying up means the dothraki sea dying (as some of it is in Dany's last POV) and the mountains swaying in the wind are the pyramids of Meereen collapsing. Not convinced by the last one though.
Good Guy Garlan
I read a theory that Drogon could cause a landslide on the Mother of Mountains, and so it would be blowing in the windI also think the womb part could refer to the Womb of the World somehow
Dorian Martell
Prophecy does not need to have a single meaning. These all can be quite valid
LordStoneheart
I read a theory that Drogon could cause a landslide on the Mother of Mountains, and so it would be blowing in the windI also think the womb part could refer to the Womb of the World somehow The womb is where the crones would line up and bow to her, right? Signifying her as the Stallion or at least Khaleesi of Khals, which could be stretched into meaning "quickening." As in, now she has an army of Dothraki and the approval of the dosh khaleen near the womb of the world. Maybe? Honestly, I'm with Leonardo. MMD was clearly not a prophet. If she was, why didn't she forsee her fate in Lhazar? hehehe...
PrinceHenryris
I assumed MMD's words were more of an attempt at a curse rather than prophecy. That said, I think I agree with Gorghan of Old Ghis and Marwyn's when it comes to prophecy.
BrianBoru
I think MMD was just trying to say "never" in a way that would hurt Dany. But I also think GRRM was using her words as foreshadowing.I'm happy with Quentyn being the sun, not so sure about the Dothraki Sea and pyramids of Mereen. But what I have most trouble with his Drogo returning. How will that happen? Unless it's Drogon...?
LordStoneheart
^ I've seen it speculated that Daenerys will meet her second Dothraki husband soonish.
BrianBoru
^ I've seen it speculated that Daenerys will meet her second Dothraki husband soonish.Ah. A carefully worded response - you don't care to speculate yourself?!Personally, I'd rather it meant Drogon, than Dany stoop to a husband-off with Margaery. If Dany truly finds her Targ self, she won't need another husband except Fire and Blood.
