ilikethesebooks
Who wins ? I went back like 7 pages looking for that best fighter thread but gave up. Count me in Syrio's camp
hodorisfaclessman
Unarmoured ? syrio would be favourite but wouldnt count dayne outarmoured dayne without breaking a sweat
Lord Wraith
Arthur Dayne in plate with Dawn is fairly unstoppable by all accounts. He could beat Syrio.
Balerion the kitten
Syrio is an extremely skilled swordsman yes but his fighting style would be terrible for something like this. What good would poking a man wearing armour head to heel do? Plus Arthur has dawn.If we're talking no armour then syrio as we know the first sword of braavos is the best water dancer in braavos and water dancers are extremely skilled in braavos.Seeing as we haven't seen or read any arthur fights it seems like a hard thing to judge

ilikethesebooks
Come on man! Gregor went down in full plate with what I would imagine isn't a shit sword. How long till Dayne tires out and gets rekt?
Raving Stark the Mad
Come on man! Gregor went down in full plate with what I would imagine isn't a shit sword. How long till Dayne tires out and gets rekt? I doubt Dayne is as stupid as Gregor. The way to beat the rope-a-dope is to not chase the rabbit. ilikethesebooks
I doubt Dayne is as stupid as Gregor. The way to beat the rope-a-dope is to not chase the rabbit. Syrio is talented enough to make Dayne work without getting blasted
Bright Blue Eyes
in armor? Dayne, no contest. There is no conceivable way for Syrio to get at the few vulnerable spots. Out of armor? Probably Dayne. Syrio's smallsword isn't exactly a good weapon. Even is it's a rapier, it would stand up to a greatsword - but just barely.
Nihlus
Dayne slaughters him. Heck, Meryn Trant could slaughter him.
Lord Wraith
Whomever George would want to win. Yup. Dayne slaughters him. Heck, Meryn Trant could slaughter him. To quote TV hound. "The world's greatest swordsman was killed by Meryn f**king Trant?"
Nihlus
Yes."Because Trant had armor. And a big fucking sword."
ilikethesebooks
He had odds and Syrio had wood lol?
Nihlus
Wouldn't matter if Syrio had steel. Trant is pretty much immune to harm. Any attempt to attack his gaps would just expose Syrio to a hit, and Meryn only needs one. Best case scenario, he successfully stabs a gap, lightly wounds Meryn, gets his rapier stuck, and then gets sliced open. There's a reason that people spent all of their money on plate armor, despite it being a bitch to wear and put on. mdw4950
i feel like syrio gets overrated a little bit. hes definitely a hell of a swordsman but he also became the first sword by answering a riddle about a cat. syrio says the sealord sent for him but also says that other men came in and were sent out before him. its not like syrio was the only man they brought in, he was just the first one who answered the question right. again, you have to assume the guys brought in were the best of the best in braavos. its not like syrio is average/above average by any means but we also dont know if he was even the best of that group. for example, we dont know if syrio is in the two-handed jaime/barristan class or the still very good but not elite bronn/brienne class. thelittledragonthatcould
Syrio was perhaps the greatest swordsman in Braavos, Arthur Dayne was the greatest in all of Westeros. Dayne edges it.
Bright Blue Eyes
I don't get it didn't trent have other armored guards with him? That got dropped by a wooden sword? Very partially armored guards, with rather glaring weak spots. It is amazing how many people do not understand this That sells GRRM short. He knows how to write a consistent story.
