  1. My brain went to the same place when I saw that scene. That's not a dig. At. All. The scene where Rabban leaves Arrakine with Harkonnen troops in their 'thopters to blast that atol also has some serious Apocalypse Now vibes. Are we no longer doing spoiler tags? Will everyone be sufficiently indoctrinated by tomorrow morning?
  2. The Marvels is mercifully short. I think I might check it out just to see what all the buzz is about. Has anyone seen Dumb Money? There's a documentary on the same subject on Crave but I think I want to see the film first.
  3. Aquaman 2 just hit streaming here. Should I? Hrmm. I don’t know… Maybe? I…
  4. You’re not wrong. Except it’s “in over his head” or “out of his depth.” Jeez you guys. That said, I’m really curious about Megalopolis. I liked Rylance in it but I didn’t care for the movie at all. I dunno. The climax just didn’t work for me.
  5. I joked before about a director's cut of part 1 that had realistic arterial spray; especially the scene where Paul and Jessica kill the Harkonnens in the ornithopter. They'd be covered in it. Regarding part 2, I'm trying to think of another PG-13 film that had that much blood in it and drawing a blank TBH. And the close up of one particular stab wound and character death; I think the MPAA is grading on a curve. Just don't show titties. Blade Runner 2049 also had some stuff that was pushing the envelope as I recall.
  6. Absolutely. By miles. Am I the only one who thought this move was reeeeealy pushing the limits of PG-13?
  7. Some nitpicks: Continuity Error: Did anyone catch...
  8. I'm going back over past comments in this thread. This one was spot on (though pretty obvious at the time so I can't exactly brag about it) Something I loved about the film:
  9. Honest question: How much anticipation is there for this really?
  10. I saw the title and immediately closed the tab. What is it with film critics declaring a blockbuster du jour "the film we all need right now"? Did you know there was a professional film critic who said the same thing about Wonder Woman 1984? A film that literally no one needed and which fell down the memory hole the moment it left theaters? Not for nothing, I saw the latest Furiosa trailer before Dune 2 and it's looking pretty good. Hemsworth's prosthetic nose is growing on me.
  11. I'm in western Canada, not the United States. In terms of audience behaviour, my movie-going experiences in the USA have been good overall. Same for other parts of Canada, though it's been a while. Maybe it's just people in this city, who kind of behave like selfish assholes at times. If I have to move off the sidewalk one more time because two people walking abreast toward me can't go single-file for a few steps, I'm going to punch one of them. The IMAX audiences seem fairly well behaved here though. It's general audiences I'm talking about. I'm not completely sure but I think when I saw Dune Dune today someone was getting text alerts on their phone. Something audible that I'm pretty sure wasn't part of the film soundtrack and I heard it more than once. This was in a theater that was maybe 20% full and there was still one asshole who couldn't silence their phone. Aside from that I was completely unaware of the rest of the audience for the entire film.
  12. Do not read this unless you've seen the film. I'm not going to be accused of altering anyone's expectations or planting any narrative in their brain. These are not spoilers just my initial reaction to the film.
  13. Gotta make a note for myself the next time I see a movie in this theater. My seat is perfect.
  14. Get there early. Bare feet w/ flip flops and a really big hat. Make sure to spread your stuff over the adjacent seats. Make lots of "Mmmm" and "Aaah" sounds when you sip your soda or munch on your popcorn. You can't give these bastards an inch, I'm telling you.
  15. Killers: People talking. People on their phones. A general lack of consideration. Just the usual poor cinema etiquette that makes me clench my fists and and whisper, "You motherfucker" under my breath. I don't need to buy a ticket for that. Spider-Verse 2: Same as above plus shitty audio (Spider-Punk's dialogue was completely unintelligible), and, a group of drunken shitheads that sneaked in half way through. By "sneaked" I mean "stumbled in a loudly as possible, made a shitload of noise, became the main characters of the movie for about 5 minutes and got kicked out". It's the closest I've ever come to freaking out on someone in a theater. IMAX theaters tend to be set apart from the rest of the multiplex and some have staff at the entry points all the way through, making it more difficult to sneak in. Plus audiences that pay the premium for IMAX tickets tend to leave their shit at the door.
  16. I'd pay money for an IMAX ticket purely to see the film with an audience that's better behaved. When I saw Spider-Verse 2 and Killers OT Flower Moon, I left the theater both times thinking, "Screw this. It's IMAX or nothing from now on." My screening tomorrow isn't IMAX but it is a weekday matinee, and I'll be sitting so close to the screen that audience behaviour won't be a problem. The theater will be half-full and they'll all be behind me.
  17. Igotmy tiiiii-ket. Igotmy tiiiii-ket. Igotmy tiiiii-ket. Tomorrow afternoon. Same theatre where I saw part 1. Some bastard grabbed my seat so I'll be sitting right in front of them. My body is ready.
