  1. I suppose so. Although, Alyssane matched Vissera with Theomore Manderly , suggested Rhaena to remarry and her other choice for Daella was the womanizer Tymond Lannister ; which suggests she wasn't all that bright.
  2. well , Boremund wanted Rhaenys to be queen because she was his niece.. likewise, Rogar wanted to crown Aerea for his own agenda, that doesn't make him an exception . and I excluded Stannis and Renly just admit it my friend, Baratheons went full Durrandan after Orys
  3. re-reading FnB is insightful I've come to conclusion that Robert and every historical Baratheon , save for Orys himself, are basically variants of Argilic the Arrogant! they all share a passion for hunting , drinking and whoring ; they all want to die with a weapon in hand and a curse in mouth and none of them think much of women's capabilities (worse than ,say, Starks or Targaryens) .
  4. well, with Quentyn scheme , Doran didn't need Myrcella plan to have his war and revenge; so, why would Oberyn? anyway , yeah, they probably came up with that separately . although , my guess is Oberyn would have known he couldn't eventually put Myrcella on the throne and might have planned to declare Dorne's independence after luring Lannisters into his trap and taking his revenge. Or , he planned to join Daenerys afterwards.
  5. I don't don't know what to think of that bit . according to Doran , he and Oberyn had the same plans . wasn't Quentyn sent to Dany before Oberyn's departure?
  6. they were already famous enough without it random thought: isn't it amusing that only 3 of the Targaryen kings - Aenys , Daeron I and Aerys II - were actually raised expecting to one day wear the crown and none of those three turned out to be able? ( Aegon IV and Daeron II succeeded their fathers too but both were already all grown up when Viserys became king.)
  7. doesn't anyone think it odd that there wasn't anything close to gender equality in Valyria? I mean men and women both rode dragons ... dragons! ... there's no difference between men and women when they fly and can burn down anyone and anything .. right? ... yet , not only there was male primogeniture (which could be somewhat understandable) , there is also polygamy
  8. unfortunately, I personally only care about the first 4 ,while George seems to be preoccupied with the other 20 ... no wonder he said "I am sorry for you"
  9. all the talk in FnB about how it took Aegon III a LONG time to consumate his marriage after his wife's flowering becomes hilarious ,when you realize Daenaera must have been 14-15 when she got pregnant with Daeron I .
  10. it's probably an unpopular opinion. but part of me thinks that if main series aren't gonna be published , it's better that that DnE and F&B stay unfinished as well . I do want to read them but I know they just make me want Winds and Dream more and that's frustrating
  11. didn't Aegon I only worshiped the Seven after his conquest? Knighthood wasn't much of a concept for him
  12. I just don't understand how he keeps saying he intends to tell his story if he is not remotely close to finishing Winds after all these years
  13. that is actually popular ! OR you'll get posters calculating the force required to pull down a tower using ropes and horses... then there will be loads of disagreements among experts on diameter of the ropes , number of horses , etc, etc.
  14. if anyone could claim that Starks dragged them into their rebellion , it's their vassals. Freys weren't dragged into anything ; they reached an agreement . granted, Starks didn't honor that agreement but that still doesn't mean they should be punished for dragging Freys into their rebellion!
  15. no, that was Aegon. Rhaegar was the one betrothed to Manderly's eldest daughter.
  16. it does sound like him to write 1000 pages and doesn't get passed Aegon Lusty Unworthy . not to mention , without a third book he'll have to include Aerys II's reign , Robert's rebellion and Harrenhall in detail , too. however , if he wants to call the second book Blood and Fire instead of Fire and Blood 2 , what will he call the third books? Flood? besides, Blood and Fire being the inverse of Targaryen words might suggest the end of their dynasty.. now, I'm lost again! @Ran can you tell us if there will be a third F&B book?
  17. I'm gonna stop you right there.. if you don't see that as problematic and if the only version of rape in your mind is a woman kicking and screaming whilst the rapist has his way with her , then we don't really have to discuss anything! we have very different views
  18. well , he certainly is working on other projects... I'm gonna lean towards a more optimist view by thinking he means he won't publish any more books before WoW and conclude that he is close to the end of WoW! however , I'm pretty sure that I'm just fooling myself
  19. me too ... I wonder what the Who and Who book is gonna be.. I mean , if it's just the app info , it's not exactly .. exciting (sorry for saying that) how about sending him some Winds of Winter positive energy then , Bard?
  20. I just read George's last Not a Blog post . does anyone else feel like he has forgotten that after Winds there is yet another book he needs to work on if he ever wishes to "tell the story" ? Current Mood: down
  21. isn't there a theory that Manderly killed , baked and ate him? anyways, it's totally possible that Manderly had given him a bad horse that gets him lost and eventually killed
  22. ok! which one is his greatest deed? 1) mascaraing Tarbeks and Reynes 2) forcing his father's mistress to a walk of shame(and make no mistake ser.. he only did that because she was a commoner who had risen above not because she was a corrupted woman) 3) having his son's 14 yr old wife gang raped 4) making his son watch his wife being raped 5) neglecting his twins to the point that he was entirely clueless about their affair 6) thinking himself so high and above that ,for no good reason , just assumed crown prince of a dynasty that hardly married outside of their inner circle, would be his son-in-law. and worse than that made his little daughter believe that , having her heart broken afterwards. 7) accusing his dead wife of being unfaithful for the sole reason of not getting a pretty son , before her corpse was cold. 8) "honoring" his wife's memory by offending her friend 9) ordering two brutes to murder children 10 ) ordering a mad man to rape and kill a woman because Great Tywin was offended by her marriage 11) conspiring for a slaughter of nobles and innocent soldiers in a wedding 12) probably Duskendale (disputed)
  23. he did the best with what he had if it wasn't for their Targ Plot , the Dornish probably would have joined the war . Tyrion was no fortune teller , therefore , what he did was the best in that situation. if not for his trick , Stannis would have taken the city before Tywin and Reach could save anyone. that wasn't just on Tyrion. those two should have joined forces but Cersei's paranoia came in the way and the only way for Tyrion to actually do anything was to fight her back. and if by Lannister loyalists you mean Pycelle and Janos...please!.. not his finest hour the irony is Tywin did the same.. he just kept his whoring secret granted , a terrible threat . but the truth is he was playing a part that he knew Cersei would buy.. he never meant to harm Tommen. that's the thing about Tyrion : he has accepted people referring to him as a monstrous Lannister imp and he plays the part .. although as time goes by he is embracing that persona entirely. shall we talk about how Chataya was an innocent human being that Cersei used for no absolute gain other than threatening Tyrion? and unlike Tyrion , she would have been true to her word his interactions with Joffrey were golden! that kid needed to be taught a lesson that's more upsetting than anything yeah , but his sister and father both would have done the same thing.. which is a problem with them all..they are too proud to see someone like LF might have his own agenda oh boy! that misogynist monster? ! I have to make another post about that!
