  1. I'm surprised by the love the last two episodes got. I thought they were very average and frankly reminded me a lot of Disney's Loki series.
  2. Sad, mine hasn't even shipped yet. That's the downside of buying these signed editions.
  3. I came here to write exactly the same thing What strikes me is that I have vivid memories of many scenes of ATLA, while I forgot pretty much everything about Korra except for the brilliance of Zaheer. There was a lot of missed potential on Korra unfortunately.
  4. Didn't much care for the latest episode. I'm here for the jokes primarily, so if that doesn't work I'm not on board. I'd put this in the average bucket.
  5. Episode 7 was another average episode. So far I feel like 1 and 2 were really great, 3 and 4 were bad and now 5-7 were average.
  6. Yeah, this pretty much sums up my feelings as well. I liked it better than the third episode, which I thought was pretty weak, mainly due to the fact that the fourth episode had some good jokes in there. All in all though, it felt quite lazy. You can even see it a bit in the writer's perspective segment after. They fell in love with a concept that could fill half-an-episode and then they haphazardly slapped the CHUD and Summer/Beth subplots on top of it. EDIT: It has reminded me that I still need to see the original C.H.U.D. film, but I guess they are not really horse related?
  7. Man, this is to close to reality to feel comfortable.
  8. Didn't like the latest episode. It was heavy on character which I usually like, but there were hardly any jokes worth mentioning. This show can do everything for all I care, but it should never forget to be funny.
  9. I thought four was pretty enjoyable as well but will not disagree that the first two episodes of season 5 were outstanding.
  10. I saw the first episode and thought it was really solid. There was some political commentary in there which I didn't see coming and which was hilarious Will probably watch the second episode tonight.
  11. Ah I haven't seen that one yet.
  12. The man had issues. Deep-seated issues. I can't remember any scene of the films of his I have seen where rape was played as erotic, but I wouldn't be surprised given how problematic the role of women is in his films. He was a damn good film maker though, especially when there is action cinematography.
  13. I'd prefer Peckinpah. The man really is the artist of violence
  14. Sam Peckinpah as a director of a Wolverine movie would be gruesome XD
  15. But how do you then ensure that you have enough Bacon in your life?
  16. I thought you of all people would understand immediately @Corvinus85 Let's Hear it for the Boy is an evergreen song from recording artist Deniece Williams made for the classic Kevin Bacon extravaganza Footloose... The sketch refers to the exact pronunciation of Deniece
  17. I just needed to mention Deniece Williams in this joint Continuing on from last thread. I have to admit I don't get the disappointment. Season 1 is a tad fuzzy in my recollection, but this season actually felt like a step up for me overall. It was very tastefully handled and you can really see the actors mature in their roles. EDIT: Also very happy to have made another thread title. If there is one thing I miss about the Vikings threads back when the series was good, is that we also had nice, punny titles for the threads
  18. I don't see why "interesting" and "despicable" should be mutually exclusive.
  19. Agreed. Zaheer was by far the most interesting villain in the LoK pantheon. Yes, I agree with this as a general rule. With Korra it's difficult, but that second season was atrocious. I don't remember the specifics of it, but the spirit lore was utter garbage of the Rise of Skywalker type (not only being a terrible product on its own, but also lowering the enjoyment/sense of the original). That being said, there is a lot of promise in it though. I feel like LoK is the writers just regressing to the mean after pretty consistently making the right choices with regards to the promising ideas in the Last Airbender. They made a few bad calls, but with a bit more luck it could have been just as good as ATLA.
  20. Thanks everyone for the recommendations. As my local bookshop has a copy of Tigana on the shelves, I'll think I'll start with that one
  21. I read A Song for Arbonne years ago. I found it intriguing, but never got deeper into GGK at the time. What would everyone recommend from him to get going again?
  22. Ah, what a legend. He's the people's champ in my eyes That does sound more appealing than the Great Houses idea I had to look that up and it's indeed very funny
  23. Well, you all know I was a fan of I shall miss you bake-off ETA: Also, I really loved those ending credits, summing up what everyone was up to after they survived bake-off
