  1. Yes, it absolutely was. But again, Rhaegar was obsessed with prophecy and probably believed that it was more important than anything else.
  2. Did HarperCollins expect 5000 copies in lifetime total sales for AGoT? That seems quite low even for the time period. @Werthead Am I missing something here?
  3. I don't think Gregor is that skilled in the traditional sense of the word, but he makes up for it with his size. It's hard to beat a 7 foot ironclad monstrosity no matter who you are. And I don't think Oberyn would have beaten him if he didn't use a spear.
  4. By the way, there is a great video on the topic.
  5. I’ve been dreaming of a Westeros-themed Soul Calibur game for years, but that’s not going to happen.
  6. On the other hand, there is a lot of story still to go through, so if Sansa should face difficulties, it shouldn’t be about getting a marriage annulment.
  7. There is actually a discussion on reddit right now about whether a prime Robert could beat the Mountain. I don’t think Robert would win, but he would definitely put up a good fight.
  8. Just a thought; wouldn’t it be better if the two volumes were published under different names, like Feast and Dance? Yes, that would increase the number of books in the series, but it would be much less confusing, IMHO.
  9. At the end of the day, we can't know anything for sure until we get new material. And even then, GRRM might deliberately leave some mysteries unresolved.
  10. Actually, GRRM talked about Harry the Heir before he abandoned the 5 year gap. Although it’s unclear what Harry’s role was supposed to be at that point.
  11. I'm not sure I agree here. I think it was easier for Sandor to travel with the smaller Arya than with the older and bigger Sansa. Sansa might not have survived an encounter like the one at the Inn at the Crossroads.
  12. There definitely is reliable information in that dream. The color of William Dustin's horse, for example.
  13. I don’t think Tywin has any redeeming qualities per se, but I find it hard to hate him because he is a “stoic badass” right up until Tyrion’s final chapter in ASOS.
  14. But still, as others have pointed out, why continue with the revenge plot when everyone who was directly responsible for the deaths of Elia and her children is gone?
  15. As is the idea that all knights are rotten because Gregor is rotten, which is what Sandor subscribes to.
  16. I completely agree here. It’s Sandor’s subjective opinion, which is based on his deeply personal experiences. It’s not an objective fact.
  17. The right way to challenge the system is to change it for the better. You won’t be able to do that by being a grumpy drunkard like the Hound. Sandor on the Quiet Isle is off to a promising start, though.
  18. He did run over the butcher’s boy almost of his own free will, though.
  19. That dynamic would have been quite interesting, even more so given that Arthur Dayne was Barristan’s sworn brother.
  20. What I don’t understand is what Doran would do if Dany wasn’t married off to Khal Drogo and there was no pontential Dothraki invasion of Westeros. Especially since The Golden Company refused to support Viserys.
  21. “We princes make our careful plans and the gods smash them all awry” is pretty much him admitting it.
  22. Speaking of which, there is a theory that the song Daemon sings to Vermithor is part of a dragon bonding ritual that was used in old Valyria, and gives the rider complete control over the dragon. Which the Westerosi valyrians seemingly never managed to achieve.
