Polar Opposites and Why is That So?

Viserys & Dany very literally had the same life experiences, running for their lives and living in poverty; but he turned out cruel, while she turned out compassionate.

Just because they lived together doesn't mean that they had the same experiences.

Viserys personally experienced the flight from the Rebels and from Dragonstone, Daenerys was only told stories about it.

Viserys lived his life under the palpable threat that Robert might send assassins after him, Daenerys was shielded from that.

Viserys went from prince to pauper, Daenerys was born into relative poverty.

Viserys had to take care of his sister, Daenerys had someone to take care of her.

. . . And abuse her.

Yes, which shows the different ways they handle power as a result of their different life-experiences.

Begging, really.

Edit:

I'd say Cersei and Catelyn are polar opposites in a way.

Both of them their father's eldest child.

Both of their mothers died in childbed.

Both of them were married off for the sake of a political alliance.

Both of them started their marriage with a slight from their husband.

The difference was that Cat had a warm, loving father, while Cersei had... well, Tywin.

GRRM said we met three descendants of Dunk, I thought for a while that one was Hodor, but then remembered Nan mentioning having a multiple children, it would she was married and Hodor was of that union. Dunk is heading to Winterfell still in PG13 dunk and Egg tales, I don't see him and Old Nana getting it on then. That leaves us with two candidates, Both Sandor and Gregor show mirror into the values of Dunk or its opposite.

Sandor seems to be on his way to becoming the true knight that Sansa envisioned, and Dunk strove to be. Gregor will forever be the foil to Dunk, and now he is basically robot who obeys the commands of a cruel master without question.

Falia Flowers hasn't done anything to terrible IIRC.

You've made this statement before. It is just as ridiculous now as it was then.

Condemning several women and girls(<12-13 years old) to rape, doing so gleefully none the less, is evil. No matter if they lorded their birth over her.

Condemning your father to watch his wife and daughters(again, some of whom were not even in their teens) being raped is evil. No matter if he employed her in a position she found beneath her.

Condemning your fellow servants, who have more than likely done you no harm, to rape and/or murder is evil. No matter if she felt she was too good to serve with them.

Yes, which shows the different ways they handle power as a result of their different life-experiences.

Catelyn and Cersei did have very similar upbringings. In fact, Hoster seems to have been somewhat Tywin-esque. Tywin is also said to have been warmer to Cersei than anyone besides her mother if I recall correctly.
