Summah
Pentax still uses k mount lenses? Wow.
Loge
Right now film still carries a lot more information than any digital, which is why I think right now it's still better, provided you can find good quality film that's not expired and have access to a good lab or can develop yourself. What kind of info would that be? It certainly isn't spatial resolution. Digital cameras haven been pixel-starved for at least a decade. What kind of DSLR are you comparing to film, APS-C or full frame? APS-C obviously has the disadvantage of the smaller field of view at the same focal length but that's a matter if sensor size / format, not technology. Summah
Really, they've been making 20-25 megapixel cameras for 10 years?
Seli
Both of those things sound like they'd be much easier using manual focus, if possible. Macro is also one of the things that digital is well known to not do well (yet). Perhaps, but not with the most basic version of Canon zoom lenses which is what I am using. And I am happy with the images I can capture with my macro lens*, even if they are perhaps not even proper macro. * eg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-JYnoMNL2zKI/Utr-cu6_WQI/AAAAAAAADkY/s6JfmoCkRcQ/w882-h588-no/IMG_56711.JPG https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Tdxl4scZOy8/UtsB76C8WWI/AAAAAAAADoI/XmOeuq0jDFk/s720/IMG_54381.JPG https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-iCyDTqYLCLE/Ty8SoqIuG-I/AAAAAAAACc8/-A0LKhxikjA/w882-h588-no/IMG_36055.JPG
Yagathai
Really, they've been making 20-25 megapixel cameras for 10 years? That sounds about right. In early 2005 the sexiest thing on the market was a 39MP digital back for medium-formats like the Hasselblad H1 and H2.
cdawnb
Summah I found an article on manual focusing I thought you might find interesting. http://onassignment.nationalgeographic.com/2014/12/17/lost-art-of-pre-focus/?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=Social&utm_content=link_twt20141218oldschoolphotos&utm_campaign=Content&sf6414063=
Summah
Thanks, that was interesting. Pre focus is how I've done action shots, but I haven't done water sports specifically.
