Maybe a month of travel to Winterfell and back, compared to a year to Sunspear (by land anyway). Que? It was probably about a week or two there and the same back if he had remounts, and the North is huge. Getting to Dorne would probably be fastest by sea, but it would still only take a few months to get to Dorne if he brought an extra mount or two, one person can travel far and faster than a party.
