Firmly non-violent.  An abundance of research, including my own, has shown that Palestinian violence/terrorism is designed to escalate immediately before Israeli elections in the interest of maintaining the status quo of conservative Israeli regimes rather than the electing those that would work towards a two state solution.  There are plenty on both sides that would come to the table if the right (heh, irony!) parties were elected.

They were close, they were so damned close when Bill Clinton was in office. But then Ariel Sharon happened, he managed to provoke violence from Palestinians and Intifada 2 got started. A provocation to violence, because too many people were committed to violent struggle and so were easily provoked, prevented a lasting peaceful solution for at least a generation, and probably more. Violence doesn't solve problems anymore, it just delays (or prevents) lasting solutions. Too few people recognise this.

Agreed, they were very close at the end of the Clinton administration.  He hoped to make that part of his legacy.
