Ranking the commanders (TV show only)

Aside from the final garbage dragon pit scene - when would Sansa be a commander? Even then, likely that her armies were being commanded by someone else. Also, Ramsay was a good shirtless figher and sabateour but horrible horrible commander (he sent his cavalry in against a much smaller force and proceeded to have volleys launched at everyone). He also failed to scout around the battlefield for potential Stark reinforcements (which could have been handfuls of Northerners to the TV show Vale cavalry vanguard). Also what's up with the numbering?

Nonetheless, BASED UPON THE SHOW:

1) Robert Baratheon: The show/extras on DVDs mentions him winning: three victories in a single day, the battle of the bells. the Trident, overall successful rebellion against greater numbers and the Iron Throne, and the Greyjoys.

2) Tywin Lannister

3) Robb Stark – Ned's son. Outfoxed the Lannister forces under the overall command of Tywin. Crushed the Kingslayer and Stafford Lannister. Relieved Riverrun from siege. Proceeded to sack Westerlands castles.

4) Stannis Baratheon – Baelish's and Lannister Quotes, Siege of Storm's End, Greyjoy Rebellion. Battle at the Wall. Sleeping with Melisandre to take out the largest and most potent army in Westeros with a single assassination? Lol. Show Stannis slacks though with how this was followed up, exception being the Battle at the Wall.

5). Ned Stark - role in the rebellions and keeping the North under control. Quite the opposite of his Southern political skills.

6) Roose Bolton

7) Drogo – Braids speak for themselves.

8). Yohn Royce

9). Euron - appears out of nowhere at any given moment and prone to teleport.

10) Jon Snow  - Great fighter and love him but Battle of the Bastards and Winterfell vs Undead (throw in all of the other characters present for this decision making).

The rest are up in the air. Dany had no battlefield command experience, though she has mounted combat experience. Sansa is not a battlefield commander. Lady of the North/Queen does not equal general.

This started off as a, let's just call it a very heavily sarcastic thread, but after some interventions I honestly don't know any more

There is a serious thread active in the books forum though, and you will be relieved it doesn't feature Sansa or Cersei

If you had read some of my posts, you would have realized that, as Ser Hedge said, this was a sarcastic thread. And the numbering is part of that. I can't in all seriousness make a top 10, and put Jon Snow at #10. He's not worthy of being considered in a top 10, not after all he did on the show. Same goes for Tyrion and Jaime.

Bobby B is a good addition, but not because of DVD extras whatever, simply because he did indeed win his throne and because of everyone's favorite line of his on the show: Only a fool would face the Dothraki in the open field. A bit ironic, as this makes him totally opposite of how he is characterized in the books, and a wiser commander in the end.
