Children at Worldcon

Recommended Posts

Has anyone does this before?
How would you rate the experience?
Is it worth it to bring little ones?

My son will be six next weekand I may have to bring him (or it may turn out I can't go) a lot is still up in the air, but I thought I would find out a little info about kids at cons.

There's some info regarding child card here that might be useful. I recall that at Glasgow there was a track of events specifically for kids, where they did various things like do up a buggy into their idea of a tank and so on. And a number of authors were scheduled to talk specifically with the kids (George was one of them). L.A. Con apparently seems to have used the people linked above, so I'm not sure if there'll be a specific kid-aimed event track.

Lany,

I brought Kate to the last day of Technicon (nothing like Worldcon I imagine.) She fell asleep on my lap during GRRM's reading. I had a tight hold on her hand the entire time. Another boarder was kind enough to take her to the bathroom before we headed home.
