Hodor - Running Tally Poll

Adelle Tully

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm testing this format of voting for our favorite suggestions for casting out with a smaller character with fewer suggestions, just to see how well this works out. Please vote for your favorite suggestion by copying and pasting the list (don't forget the numbers!) of the poster prior to you and adding 1 to the suggestion you're voting for. There should only be one vote per person. If there is more than one vote per person, the votes will be disqualified. If there is tampering with the numbers (other than accidental), the vote will be disqualified and a correcting post will *hopefully* be made thereafter. Feel free to include a small blurb about why you're choosing this suggestion to further your cause. Happy voting!

Kevin Durand 0
Bill Fagerbakke 1

Ever since I saw Bill Faggerbakke play in The Stand with the line "M-O-O-N, that spells..." I have never felt anyone more capable of a the one-liner "Hodor!" in my entire life. It may seem like a menial role, but it would take experienced talent to keep in character and still be in many of the scenes with Bran. If his role in The Stand is any indication, he'd make the best Hodor!

If this thread is successful, we would like to make many more like it (in another area so it doesn't mess with the other posts) for the possible characters in the pilot.

That's a tough one. Fagerbakke probably has the better simpleton look, while Durand has the lean and hard tone, and Turk looks more Hodor's age. While Fagerbakke is a bit old for the role, Durand doesn't look simple enough and Turk lacks the ideal body tone. At the end of the day Age counts Fagerbakke out for me, and Durand not looking like the simpleton counts him out. So I'm left with Turk as my preference.
None of those guys fit my image of Hodor in the least. Maybe Bill Fagerbakke 30 years ago, but I've gotta vote "other" on this one.
If you come across a better option add his name to the list and cast your vote.

I suppose it would be beneath a pro-wrestler for them to stoop to playing Hodor. But there might be one (if he misses out on the Mountain).

I will refrain from suggesting The Rock for Hodor as I only thought of this to amuse myself. (Has a big ol'grin.) Yes, by all means add one you think is better and please remember links! If you would like to change your vote, please indicate that you want to by reposting and not editting as that would mess up the numbers. Simply add one to your new fav and subtract one from the old while stating in your post that you are changing it. This will help if someone comes up with a never-before-thought-of brilliant suggestion and adds it to the list.
Just posting to stop this thread from leaving the front page.

C'mon folks cast a vote!

If you don't like the options given then put up another name.
In doing my research I see sadly that John Matuszak has passed away, I always pictured Hodor as something like Sloth from The Goonies

Good idea.
I just have one question. Do you want it with links or not? Because while I can see that it might be helpful* (if the threads get really long) to be able to just right-click on the prior poster to see the actors, it might be a little hard to copy-paste every single one from imdb.com - especially with the more 'popular' ones...

I hope I make myself understandable. English is not my first language (or second for that matter :)) What I mean is - Do you want it like this:

Brian Turk 3
Kevin Durand 0
Bill Fagerbakke 1 1

Or like this:

Brian Turk 3
Kevin Durand 0
Bill Fagerbakke 1

* Perhaps the full list could be added as a sticky on the top of the thread?

Keep the links if possible please. To retain the links, click on reply under the most recent post containing the voting list (hopefully it has the links) and the hyperlinks will automatically appear in your post. Delete everything other than the voting list then make the numerical adjustment as necessary.

Though at the end of the day it doesn't really matter if the links are lost as long as the voting options are retained and the numbers are not messed up.
No matter who plays Hodor, I hope the audition reel goes on the DVD.

"Hodor!"

"HOOODOOR!"

"Hodor, Hodor, Ho-dor...."
I second this motion! I could listen/watch that for hours although I might get a stitch from laughing.

HEY NOW! WHERE'S THE VOTES PEOPLE!?

I voted for Turk. Mostly to support the voting process, though I don´t care that much who play Hodor.

Just one question.
Isn´t it possible for the mods to set up automated polls, where you check a box, and the board keep track of the numbers. I have seen them on other message boards.
But perhaps this version doesn´t support them.

It seems that a lot of people are shying away from this vote as they don't have a dog in this fight. I've been googling "tall young actors" all morning to see what else we could toss out there-- and I have one to add to the list. Jess Rowland is 6'7, and has a couple of acting credits, although I can't attest to having seen any of them. I'll keep rooting around and maybe we'll come up with a winner.

Ok here's another good one that didn't make the list prior to this:

Daniel Cudmore He's 6'7, still in his 20s, and apparently used to lugging around small children

Who better than Colossus from X-Men to lug Bran around?

Brian Turk 4
Kevin Durand 0
Bill Fagerbakke 1
Daniel Cudmore 1
