Fordy
Some of the choices on this board are inspired, but has no one thought that Lance Henriksen IS Tywin Lannister! One thing's for sure, they'd have to make all the characters about 5 years older, since so many of them are children. You don't want the success of a series hinging on inexperienced child actors. Here's my two penneth: Tywin Lannister - Lance Henriksen or Stephen McHattie Bronn - Dominic West Eddard Stark - James Purefoy Sandor Clegane - Vinnie Jones (I know, he's not exactly hot in the acting stakes but he is imposing and dangerous looking) Jaqem Ha'Gar - Vincent Cassel Syrio - Djimon Hounsou Varys - Christopher Biggins (I'm not joking either) Littlefinger - Tom Hollander Cersei - Keeley Hawes Jaime - Luke Goss (again, not an acting giant but he's good looking enough, and check out his sword work in the Hellboy II trailer)
Dracosmith
I admit that I haven't taken the time to read through this entire thread so I'm not sure if this has been addressed, but the roles that actually have me concerned quite a bit are the wolves. Will they use normal wolves? That is problematic, because there are many points where people remark on how big they are and express shock at noticing that they are not normal wolves. If they use CGI to create the wolves that's equally problematic for an HBO series. For them to be rendered realistically with CGI would probably be prohibitively expensive. It seems to me that the wolves could be a real problem.
Fordy
Just as an addendum (and after I saw him in a Doctor Who episode) Harry Lloyd would be perfect as Jon Snow http://www.bbc.co.uk/nottingham/content/im...allery.shtml?

It seems to me that the wolves could be a real problem. I agree completely with you on this. They couldn't be normal wolves unless they found some of the biggest wolves out there. It would have to be CGI. I always pictured them to be the size of the wolf in the movie 300. Only difference is I think they would be a little thicker. Lady Blackfish
Just as an addendum (and after I saw him in a Doctor Who episode) Harry Lloyd would be perfect as Jon Snow http://www.bbc.co.uk/nottingham/content/im...allery.shtml?22 Based on looks from that one photo ('cause I've never seen the show) that is one of the best Jon Snows I've seen picked. The coloring, the long face, the look, all works.

Dickon Tarly
Edmure Tully-- Paul Soter I don't know, he doesn't seem like the right guy personality wise, but the picture of him w/ a beard from beerfest is just pretty much how I picture Edmure looking. CrooMi
I think I found Jaime Lannister: Joe Elliott Look: http://www.cliffroles.com/Quickstart/Image...eppard_1992.jpg The problem is that I don't think Joe is gonna accept it, he loves singing, not acting... Seriously ... maybe he's a little bit out of age, but Kennet Brannah would be the most wonderful Jaime Lannister. He's got the looks and the talent. I would love to have Alan Rickman as Eddard Stark, but we would loose him so early that it would be a pity to let go that great actor so early. Nicole Kidman as Cersei Lannister Sharon Stone would be wonderful Lannister-twin too but, as Kennet, the age is a little bit forced. Kate Winslet as Catelyn Tully
Ptrvc
Clint Eastwood as the Blackfish/the Halfhand Sean Connery as Sir Barristan/Jeor Mormont Yeah, both of them play two parts It be awesome
hobomagic
Christopher Walken as Tywin. Why? Its my movie and Walken is in it. The most important question is, of course, who does Christopher Walken play. The right answer, however, is King Aerys.
Big George
I kind of like Angus Macfadyen for either Oberyn or if they made him look older, then maybe even the Blackfish.
Black Wizard
This is probably too big-budget, but what about Scarlett Johansson as Cersei? I don't know much about how good an actress she is, but she certainly looks the part. I'd like to see Andy Hamilton as Tyrion. He's a very short comedian/actor who would fit the role perfectly. Too Good To Be True
^ I don't think Scarlett could play evilsexycrazy well enough yet. One of the three, not all at once. Now Keira Knightley, if you give her ten years and a blonde wig, could pull it off. (I'm not saying she'd need ten years to do it, but ten years older to make her the right sort of age; she's, what, 23 now?)
Black Wizard
I think Scarlett could do crazy and sexy very well (she doesn't need to act for the latter!), but you might be right about not being able to pull off evil. Mabye she could though, she just hasn't been cast in that kind of role yet. I know Keira's a great actress but I don't think her appearance would suit Cersei. I've always though Cersei would have a large chest (sorry if I sound like a pervert here) and Keira's very flat chested. The woman who played Eowyn in LOTR (Miranda Otto or something) might be a pretty good Cersei as well.

SkyPirate
It's a shame Leonard Whiting isn't 40 years younger. He was such a good Romeo in the 1968 version of Romeo and Juliet, and even though he doesn't have curly hair or brown eyes, he'd be a great Loras. Not manlymannish but elegant and the anger he portrayed at Mercutio's death ("He gone in triumph? when Mercutio slain? (...) Fire, fury be my conduct now!") was brilliant and, well, very like Loras. I admit it, Jared Leto as Loras made me laugh a bit.
Melikon
HBO sometimes recycles actors/actresses from previous series. I'm guessing that a few of the stars of Rome/Deadwood/Wire/Carnivale/etc. will probably be getting roles if the series is ever made. I doubt anyone from the Sopranos will be included though. lol. No paisans in Westeros, eh?
