I had thought that Tyrion would have done better by the Watch than he did there, but I suppose the Wall is so far away.That was personal animosity getting in the way of doing the right thing. Tyrion and Ser Alliser didn't like eachother. I believe they had a bit of a disagreement when Tyrion visited the wall. And Tyrion allowed his emotions to get the better of him.
