Hyper
Brienne has been cast - It is GWENDOLINE CHRISTIE: http://www.spotlight.com/interactive/cv/F91694.html (her IMDB profile is very sparse, she appears to have done mostly theater work)GRRM confirms it on his blog: http://grrm.livejournal.com/227044.htmlA great choice! Grey Squirrel
I was maybe most nervous about this casting, but it looks like an awesome choice, and by the sound of it, one that the fans of the book championed a bit for.
Ser Grifter
That looks like a fine bit of casting! 6' 3" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ariadne Snow
I'm so stoked about this, I think she'll be great! Of all the actresses suggested I felt she was best suited for the part. She's taller then NCW and when she's in armour, she'll look like the perfect Brienne. Wonderful casting - again!
Ser Plissken
Is it just me, or is Brienne's arc one of the most pointless in modern fiction?
Sijjvra
Not too thrilled. Never was a fan of this idea, and now it's come to pass. May even be a deal breaker for me so far as watching the series - she's way too thin and way too pretty, and I detest Hollywood "uglifying". I'm not sure her rumored acting chops will make up for it, we'll see. Brienne is one of my favorite characters and it seems to me they've dropped the ball entirely. I hope they make up for it with Asha and Stannis or I'll just stick with the books.
Xanderpanda
Is it just me, or is Brienne's arc one of the most pointless in modern fiction?Personally I can't wait to see her arc just for the pure effect she has on Jaimie during SoS. Its what turned him into one of my favourite characters the effect she had on his honour.
Asha—Not Yara!
Is it just me, or is Brienne's arc one of the most pointless in modern fiction? No because it resonates with a lot of people (even if it doesn't for you).I think it's a safe bet that Brienne's going to be saved somehow from being hung, and who knows where her story is going to lead after that? The series isn't finished.

I have confidence that this will be one of the better casting jobs. The bigger question is, Did they have her do some readings with NCW to see what kind of rapport that they have?GH

fleurlis
She wasn't my first pick, but I completely trust the casting agents on this show... i think they've done a remarkable job considering the huge cast and immense diversity needed.
DragonAge93
Hm, never heard of her, and haven't met Brienne in my reading of ACoK yet, so I can't really say anything yet. But no doubt she'll be perfect, as all the casting has been since the beginning.
Brienne the Beauty
Good choice, not that I've seen her act, but she's a big tall lass. I remember reading all about this actress here years ago, so is this the result of the fan campaign in her favour, I wonder?

Asha—Not Yara!
Sijjvra, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you'll give Christie a chance. I have a feeling like with Mark Addy did with Robert, she'll play an excellent and convincing Brienne.
Buster
I was a little shocked when I first saw her to be honest, but HBO have more than earned my trust with season one. I'm sure that they know what they're doing.
Silverx2
Is it just me, or is Brienne's arc one of the most pointless in modern fiction? She fits the mold for a general theme of the series, the good person, trying to be noble and having it constantly bite them in the ass. I think she plays a larger role ultimately and so saying her arc is pointless is a little premature.
Criston
She's way too good looking, but her height is sure impressive. I approve.
