lady crackhead
The dude is mentally TOUGH. He was tortured, flayed alive, toyed with, probably gelded, had his teeth smashed in, and went through such stress that he aged about fifty-odd years in the Dreadfort.Yet Theon is not only alive, he is actually sane. indeed.Life is hard. If youre a survivor through the toughest times, then you are a hero in my book. What the character lived through was enough to designate his effort to stay alive as heroic. iamthedave
I completely agree with you on this one. And that's why his Winterfell phase cannot be defined as heroic!!Oh no it isn't. But the ACT of TAKING Winterfell was heroic. See my post about the different meanings of the word. I may be mistaken, but I think Theon's taking of Winterfell is one of the most remarkable deeds in the book, when it comes to castles. It was lightly defended, of course, but it was still very defensible, and after all that talk of '30 men in a castle are worth 300 outside' Theon took it with... 17, was it? That's impressive. It just is.
