arek
The new Stannis info from the WOW is amazing! Should we start a Stannis thread in the WOW spoiler bit of ADWD? Spot on. I laughed when he called Hosteen Frey Ser Stupid , cheered when he handled the Karstarks and was touched when he ordered "Arya" to be escorted to the wall to be reunited with Jon Snow.Brilliant quote "You Vows are stronger then you bladder"I think Stannis is a much better man then his brother Robert same way Ned Stark is a much better man then his older brother Brandon. Both Stannis and Ned lived in the shadows of there older brothers but were in the end much more then either and deserved better then what they got. Gingerly Grumkin
He fucked up those Karstarks! Stannis is my idk 2nd or 3rd fav charater, but its hard to cheer for someone who is bound to die, aside from him not fitting into anyones plans, "the kinslayers are cursed in the eyes of gods and men" and he fucked Renly up lol. The Oncoming Storm
I don't see him dying soon. First he gotta meet Dany, blue-eyed king from the prophecy, and judging from Dany's tempo... Stannis might live to see his 100th name day.
Gingerly Grumkin
But Stannis will fight till he is dead, well maybe, he is fighting for legal reasons but if he meets Dany... hmm better then his bearded wife lol. I cant see Stannis winning, nor can i see him losing just dead but you can always hope! Im just assuming everyone here thinks Boltons letter was bull shit, right? (at least the part about Stannis)

LadyoftheNorth72
I have always believed the infamous letter was BS from start to finish and have theories on who really sent it and why.I am not sure whether Theon I necessarily proves it, since we do not know the exact timing of the scene in Theon I (it could be before this supposed epic battle in which Stannis is declared dead), but until further notice I am taking Theon I as proof that the letter was so much crap. Manderly has already pulled the look I killed him and here's his head trick with Davos. I can see him telling Stannis and Manderly goes back to Bolton (after massacring the Freys) with a head and a sword and saying Stannis is dead and then finding a way to lure Bolton out etc. Also the bit where it said that the crows had been released sounds like something fishy happened at that point. KingK
Stannis is a great character, and I would really like him if it weren't for the fact that he killed Renly. I really liked Renly and I can't quite manage to forgive Stannis for that (in the same way the Jaime has been winning me over, but I can't forgive him for trying to kill Bran). Then again, I seem to remember a conversation with Stannis which implied that he doesn't actually know that he's responsible for Renly's death. Kate Poem
And Stannis will be remember Renly's peach until his death... and Renly, if he would be Stannis's killer, he would forget about him in some week or earlier."The feast waits or the tourney and I must change my beautiful, new clothes for more beautiful, newer clothes." Lord Bronn Stokeworth
I am on the fence with Stannis. Sometimes, I love him. Sometimes, I dislike him. Though he is the reason I took the Baratheon mug instead of the Targ when I bought me and my sister the four they had at Borders before closing (the Stark and Lannister were already split between us).Either way, his name THE BEST leader name for a warcry. Seriously, what beats"STAAANNNNIIISSSS!!!!!!"Nothing, my friends. Nothing.
jarl the climber
I believe Roberts dislike of Stannis was because he let Viserys and Dany escape Dragonstone. His honesty and deadpan delivery make him the funniest character in the book, there is a particularly well written scene in ACOK where he is comparing his Lords to mules. At the same time he has a draconic demeanor that makes him ominous. He has targareyean blood, King of dragonstone, can see visions in the fire, Mellisandre excites him, is fond of burning his enemies like king Aerys. I like the vision Dany has of him in the House Of the Undying "A King holding up a sword of light who casts no shadow."
Damar
I always thought 'He will break before he bends' was more of an admirable trait than how Donal Noye made it sound.
Gingerly Grumkin
He swears he didn't kill Renly, right? But he did, right? (Well, Mel did)
The Oncoming Storm
I think Mel did, and Stannis didn't know it. He found out later, of course, and felt guilty still. But he says he was expecting a battle, and Stannis doesn't lie to his Davos.
Waterfall
I hope he trows The Twins in the Trident with trebuchets etc. During wich offcourse he says something badass like "no mercy, no compassion. Traitors deserve death". Offcourse the Greatjon and the other Northern lords must be out of the twins by then.

Ihab
Stannis Rocks! :agree: I will not forgive Martin if he simply trolled us by releasing the sample chapter where Stannis is just awesome and then killing him off in the next few pages making the Pink Letter true
A Time for Wolves
I'm totally rooting for this guy. I always had a soft spot for Stannis, but in TWOW he really seems to finally become his own man. Yes, middle son! Show them that you don't have to be a frat boy or a prancing fairy to win a throne!
