Stannis has an indelible sense of family. He joined his brother's rebellion even though he swore an oath to the king, why? because Robert was his older brother and he always did his duty. He took Dragonstone as his seat, even though Storm's End was by right's his, why? because Robert was his older brother and he always did his duty. Stannis killed Renly because Renly betrayed his family by declaring himself king and not declaring for Stannis. He had every right, and it was justice.Oh and as far as tactics/military prowess between Tywin/Stannis is concerned, Stannis has more victories to his name, battles won where he almost always has a numerical inferiority too.
