Euron = Daario - IT FITS

  • Evidence from the book:
  • similar physical appearance
  • both have blue eyes
  • Euron's location was unknown during Dany's conquests and left Westeros shortly after Victarion
  • Daario wasn't in Meereen during Balon's assassination and Kingsmoot
  • Euron brought a huge amount of swag to Kingsmoot
  • Daario earned a huge amount of swag after the siege of Yunkai
  • Euron's sure that Dany will marry him and he'll get the dragons
  • Daario tried to convince Dany to organize Meereen's own Red Wedding, which is a weird coincidence
  • The Warlock prophecy mentioned "three mounts you must ride, one to bed, one to dread and one to love." Dany has had sex with three men, Drogo, Hizdahr and Daario. Drogo is the one to love, Hizdahr is the one to bed so by elimination, Daario is the one to dread. Dany saw 'grey lips' when "dread" was mentioned. Euron has grey lips and is a GREYjoy.
  • Euron's the biggest threat Dany's facing (acc. to Moquorro)
  • Daario is a pretty pointless character with an unknown motivations
  • There were always month+ gaps between Euron's and Daario's sightings, almost two months long before Balon's assassination.
  • It's implied that Euron's using quarthian warlock magick while sailing, so anything makes sense chronologically.
  • Horn's ownership must be paid in blood - Euron killed a king once.
  • Euron teases Asha by hinting that he can control the winds when she accuses him of murdering Balon
  • Euron's introduced as a cunning chessmaster and seems to be playing Victarion in some way, yet he didn't do anything yet, and isn't even in Meereen.
  • Euron also tried to sneak Ironborn in Oldtown by disguising them as Tyroshi - Daario is supposedly a Tyroshi
And finally

  • GRRM said in a post-ADWD interview that there is more to Daario than there appears to be
  • Daario leads a mercenary group called the Stormcrows
  • Euron is known as "Crow's eye"
  • Euron describing himself: "I am the storm, my lord. The first storm, and the last"

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Evidence in the show:

  • after Daario's actor being specified as "any race except caucasian" in the casting material, HBO made him white after all.
  • Daario's actor getting replaced by a new one who looks like book Euron
  • Daario leads the Second Sons - Euron is a second son
  • in one of s4 trailers when Daario is on screen LF says "if they don't know who you are..."
  • Daario's blades in the show show a women with hands covering their mouths, similar to how the prow of the silence - Euron's flagship - is described in A Feast for Crows
  • Daario captures the Meereenese fleet during the siege of Meereen, something he wasn't ordered to do. Ironborn strength is at sea.
  • Daario captures "93" ships: "He had set sail from the Shields with ninety-three, of the hundred that had once made up the Iron Fleet" - From the beginning of "The Iron Suitor" Chapter in ADWD

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A Feast for Crows/A Dance with Dragons timeline:

Daenerys I: ADWD 3

Daario has gone away to try and make an alliance with the Lharazeen (Unsuccessful)

Daenerys II: ADWD 12

Daario is still away.

Daenerys III: ADWD 17

Last time we see Dany before the Kingsmoot.

She recieves a letter from the Stormcrows saying theyre returning from Lhazar.

>"The Stormcrows were still many days away"

Kingsmoot - The Drowned Man (Aeron II): AFFC 20

Euron is present. 8 Chapters until the next Dany chapter.

Daenerys IV: ADWD 24

"Storms rage within the walls and without"

Daario returns to the city.

At the end of the chapter she sends the Stormcrows away again.

10 chapters pass with no Euron or Dany

The Reaver (Victarion II): AFFC 30

Euron is at the Shield Islands

Daenerys V: ADWD 31

Dany orders for the sellswords to be recalled to the city

She dreams of "Daario dead by the road as crows quarrelled over his corpse"

The Second Sons return 8 days later, but the Stormcrows do not return.

Daenerys VI: ADWD 37

17 Chapters later

Daario returns to the city.

Daario was not in Meereen during the Kingsmoot or during Eurons raids on the Shield Islands. He had plenty of time (if he had warlocks) to travel from place to place.

2.)

  • Blue hair dye has been used by other characters to hide their true identities (Aegon, JonCon).
  • Blue is a repeating theme in Daario and Euron's appearance.
  • Euron has Ironborn dye their hair and try to sneak into Oldtown.
  • Daario volunteers to be used as hostage, he wasn't taken.
  • When the Yunkai'i catapult heads into Meereen, they don't find any belonging to one of Dany's three hostages despite the Yunkai'i saying that they were going to kill a hostage.
  • All of Euron's crew (save for his three bastard sons) have their tongues ripped out.
  • Euron is not a Faceless Man, but he is known to associate with them.

Basically my argument is this. Euron and Daario are the same person because of all the above, and there is even more similarities (Euron being the first storm and the last, and the Crow's eye while Daario is in charge of the Stormcrows). The elephant in the room is that "How could Euron possibly move between Essos and Westeros so fast/so many times?" Well, first, he doesn't have to travel between the two continents more than once for this theory to work. Second, he has the benefit of the remaining Qarthian warlocks aiding the travel of his already notably fast ship, Silence. Third, GRRM has been known to stretch and skew the timeline as needed in order to make things work. See: Cat travelling from the North as fast as she did, during a war no less.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Euron knows he needs to go back to the Iron Islands because clearly he cannot make Daenerys marry him as Daario. He isn't royalty, and no matter how much she wants him it isn't going to work. When he tells her to agree to the marriage, and set up her own Red Wedding (of which there was no news of in the East yet), she rebuffs him. He is sad, knows she won't marry him, but agrees to become a hostage for her anyway. Euron, as Daario, then has one of his thralls take Daario's place. They can't speak, and either by way of Faceless Man face mask technique, or a Warlock's glamour they become a suitable stand in for him. Mely did the exact same thing when she swapped Rattleshirt and Mance. So when the Yunkai'i executed "Daario" and threw his head over the walls with the others, obviously they didn't find it because they wouldn't recognize a thrall.

Euron after swapping places with his thrall, goes to the Iron Islands and has Balon killed. With Balon dead, the Kingsmoot is called on and he is properly crowned the new Iron King. Euron seems certain that Daenerys will marry him, despite being a known asshole and generally terrible person. If he is Daario though this assumption by Euron makes a lot of sense. Dany would love to marry Daario, and now that he's a king she can rightfully do that. Plus, he is sending along a horn which will help her tame her dragons. One that he likely pilfered from the Warlocks when he came across their ship.

This is how I looked at the theory prior to this season, and honestly this season has been dropping massive hints. Daario is pretty much a non-character. He has next to no backstory in the books, he's just a greedy asshole to everyone when Dany isn't around. This is why, rightfully, most people who read the books hate the dude and can't figure out why Dany wants him so badly. If you tack on the idea that Daario is actually Euron though, the non-character disappears and Daario/Euron turns into Keyser Soze.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

This season has had such highlights as:

If your foes don't know who you are...

During the Season 4 trailer titled "Secrets" we see Daario on screen during the Champion of Meereen battle. Littlefinger has a voice-over where he says those above words before it cuts to Oberyn and he says, "Or what you want." Clearly they are teasing the viewers with that. (See for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIASaUUwklk)

Then during this latest episode we have Daario casually mentioned that he somehow captured 93 ships. The exact number that Victarion took with him from the Iron Islands. How anyone could hear that and be so willfully ignorant as to deny there being some connection is just silly. Plus you have to wonder how it was that Daario captured those ships, without anyone at the council hearing about it or even knowing that the ships existed before he brought it up. You hear that and go, "Really? Okay, sure." Either it is Deus Ex Machina on behalf of the showrunners, or they are tying in the Daario/Euron connection by getting rid of Victarion and having him pull double duty.

Finally, during the first episode we have Daario talking to Dany. He tells her of the different flowers that are apparently from this land. Though, for all we know he's making it up since she is completely oblivious of this. One of the flowers is a blue rose (Hello, Westeros anybody?), and the other is poisonous ("All of Euron's gifts are poisoned" the oft repeated line goes).

Each episode with Daario they keep stacking the deck in favor of this theory. And I am honestly starting to believe that if next episode Daario was showing off his "sweet eye patch collection" to Daenerys, some people here would still be in denial.

And that is why Daario = Euron

Journey from Meereen to Iron Islands takes much more than "few days"; it'll probably take weeks if everything goes as excepted. This is really the reason I can't see this theory anyhow true - there is really no way to travel between Westeros and Slaver's Bay that often. He probably couldn't do it even in dragonback, much less with a boat.

Given that they did not cast someone that looked anything like Joseph Mawle the first time around, the show's clearly evidence against the notion.

It's BS. Crackpot theory. :)
