A possible reason to why Gilly's baby is not growing up

Gilly's baby on the show is not growing up and it seems that they might recast(!) the baby,

Unless I missed something, there is no mention of Little Sam growing up in the books as well.

Little Sam is the ONLY son of Craster that we know which was not sacrificed to the Gods. Little Sam was destined to be a part of the cold mist descending upon the seven kingdoms. WW are not recruiting male babies from any random wildlings. Why Craster's sons? Is Little Sam genetically different from wildlings? Or is he bound by some supernatural force and needs to stay beyond the wall? Can he not grow up as a human but only as a WW?

I started a post for this and Kissedbyfire is most likely right. They show has only aged in the same time Little Sam, seemingly a few weeks, while Tommen got recast and aged up 8 years so he could have an after-sex scene with Marge Tyrell. Just chalk it up to creativity by the show runners.

Let's see... A baby doesn't grow as expected and characters don't comment on it, no one notices, and life proceeds business as usual. And then, at a later point in the story we get a reveal explaining [insert reason of choice]. I mean, that would be a pathetic asspull, Martin would never do that, and he's the one writing the books regardless of what happens on the show.

The babies not growing? Proof? I mean, we don't know the exact time between each season, anyways.

We actually do get little clues about the time. Sam says he's been worrying about Jon for "years". They met in season one. Myrcella says she has been in dorne for "years". The baby should be at least one and a half maybe two, but it looks like a newborn still.

Even my initial guess was that this is a continuity error, just like several other problems with the show. But just wanted to put this crackpot theory out there for you all to chew on.

WW will take what is rightfully(?) theirs. On a more serious note, maybe Little Sam being Craster's son is linked to the origins of WW or their nature.

Aged up for 8 years? Tommen is the same age as Bran in the books and possibly the same in the show. Bran was 10 years old in season 1 and so was Tommen. The producers have stated that every season lasts for about a year. So in season 5, Tommen is around 15 years old. Does the actor look older to you?? Don't forget, Joffrey was 13 at his wedding in the books and I remember that the bedding was bound to happen. So was at Sansa's wedding (who was also around 13) That means it is NOT necessary that the person is 16 years old to consumate the wedding and TV Tommen was NOT aged up but just replaced with more capable actor because his role got much bigger in later books. (Callum Wharry, who portrayed Tommen in seasons 1 and 2 was officially an extra)

So according to this logic, Baby Sam de Leon is more than 3 yrs old show-wise.

Actually around two years old. I noticed the same issue in movie Troy (also written by David Benioff) - Hector's son remained a baby even though the Trojan war lasted for 10 years. But considering that Gilly's baby is always wrapped in blanket, you dont actually "see" how old is he (Yes, a weird statement) and children in medieval times were not always healthy. That's just my explanation. When I notice a flaw, I usually try to explain it my own way instead of whining about it.

Calling out a continuity error is not "whining."

Gilly gave birth in the beginning of s3, so by the end of s5 the 'baby' should be nearly 3, and no, no one carries a three-year-old like that all the time.

And yes, Loras said on screen back n s 1 that 'Tommen is 8'.
