The Anti-Targ
https://www.odt.co.nz/news/australia/robot-babies-fail-cut-pregnancy-rates Quote 'Robot' babies fail to cut pregnancy rates http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/1000-dolls-designed-stop-teen-8706663 Quote £1,000 dolls designed to stop teen pregnancies make babies MORE likely "A landmark Australian study, published in The Lancet, has found that teenage girls who used the dolls as part of a pregnancy prevention programme were more, not less, likely to become pregnant. "The electronic "Baby Think It Over" dolls were part of a Virtual Infant Parenting (VIP) programme run in 57 schools in Western Australia, first implemented in 2003. "Nearly 3000 Western Australian school girls aged 13-15 participated in the study. "It was found the girls who did the VIP programme had higher rates of pregnancy, at 17%, by the age of 20 compared to those who did not, at 11%. "Of the girls who did fall pregnant 58% had abortions, compared to 60% of girls from the control group." I lol'd at this bit. Quote Lead Investigator Dr Sally Brinkman says their study highlights that even the most well-intentioned programmes can have "unexpected consequences". You mean the unexpected consequence of completely failing to have the expected consequence, and actually having the opposite effect?
Nas!
I assume that the Baby Think it Over Dolls didn't excrete runny or smelly enough fluids, often enough, and that their cries were neither incessant nor loud enough.
Lily Valley
Raising baby birds would help with that. Those suckers can POOOP. Plus they are noisy and wake up way, way too early.
Swordfish
I, for one, welcome our new, benevolent, robotic baby overlords.
maarsen
The law of unintended consequences is like gravity. It does not respond to wishful thinking.
