  1. Jon is the King. But he is a man of the Night's Watch. He did his duty. He will learn the truth about Bran and unite the realm to take him down.
  2. I'm sorry to not have read the thread (there was only 4 comments when I went to work at 5 am). But I literally spit my drink out when he said "Seven Hell's Bells" instead of "Seven Hells".
  3. What is the difference between a heart tree and a wierwood tree? Or are they the same thing?
  4. Because George needed us to see him executed by the Ned.
  5. This may not be a popular opinion, but I don't really see why the show creators would make up such a thing. I can see them goofing up/coming up with Jon's birth name, but I don't think they would create a marriage that wasn't there.
  6. I assume they just have a note from the IB saying they are good for whatever debt they incurr.
  7. Or maybe it is due to what the text says, and what you refer to above? Sometimes there is no need to make the text mean some deeper thing, and it simply means what it says.
  8. That is a hard question to answer. It is certainly possible, but I doubt it. I suspect it's just a really nice looking horse. I doubt GRRM thinks about every small corner of his story in such detail. Or maybe he does stress about such things, and every name and description is of critical importance (and adds to the overall story), and that is why he is taking so long to put out The Winds of Winter.
  9. I agree with you here. But I disagree with your choice of words. Facts are facts. What are "likely facts"? It's either a fact, or it isn't.
  10. That is why I posted earlier that we can't get all dogmatic about things that we dont already know the truth about (I think it was the Heresy thread). Often a writer just writes, without doing trigonometry (and perhaps hoping the reader is not versed in trigonometry). I think it is very likely that the George intentionally writes this way so that he can "change" his mind later (if needed). Maybe not, but it's possible.
  11. Honestly couldn't tell you. Been a few years since my last re-read. I started A Game of Thrones a while back, but only made it a couple hundred pages before I asked myself why I was doing it and put it down. I will not do another re-read until we have a publication date for The Winds of Winter.
  12. I remember reading this. I can't remember if it was Varys or Howland Reed. I think it may have had to do with both.
  13. When I wrote "people" I meant readers of the books, like I wrote above. Not all readers, of course, only some that I have encountered. More (from my personal observarion) that are not members of this forum (that I know of), and a couple/few that are (like you said). But thanks for answering regarding the textual evidence. I didn't think there was.
  14. I keep reading that people (readers) believe that Rhaego is still alive and was taken by the Dothraki. What textual evidense is there for this? I've read all the books twice and have read many other parts many times, but I never got this impression.
  15. James Faulkner, the actor who portrays Randyl Tarley, is Paul in "Paul, Apostle of Christ".
  16. I noticed that when I first read that, allthough I had forgotten about it until reading this your post.
  17. I don't know if anyone has said this, but I was watching Tombraider yesterday and noticed Ian Glenn is the villain and the guy who cut Jaime's hand off is one of Lara Croft's sidekicks.
  18. Sansa has said more than once (to Tyrion and Little Finger, both in a Godswood) that she is done with all of that (religion). She told Tyrion she goes there so people don't talk to her, and I this past season she told Little Finger "I'm done with all of that" (I don't remember the exact conversation). I think this is because she prayed to the new Gods as a young girl, and look what she has been through since. Dany, on the other, I think has had a mistrust of religion from the very beginning.
  19. I thought it was better than last week. I gave it an 8/10. I liked the flashback. I saw what I thought was some foreshadowing there regarding Hodor becoming a warrior. Maybe Bran wargs him when Hodor dies. That hint combined with Leaf telling Meera that Bran will not be in the cave forever makes me think Bran become more bold with his warging abilities. We know he will never walk again, but if he can warg anyone he likes or anyone who falls in battle... bad ass. Part of me was thinking that maybe Bran sets out to tell Jon of his parentage after he sees the Tower of Joy flashback. I don't think there should have been a big scar on Willis' (Hodor's) forhead. Oh, and Ned was rough on little Benjen, lol I wasn't impressed with Roose's death, how easy it was and how shocked he was. The audience should have seen that coming, as well as Roose himself. I don't understand why Walda just didn't walk or run out of the kennels. It didn't appear that it was locked in any way. Castle Black didn't get as violent as I expected, and at first I was shocked the Watchmen threw down their arms. but after seeing what Wun Wun did to that dude... I don't blame them. I don't understand why Davos would even want Jon resurrected. That doesn't make sense to me. But I'm glad Jon is back. I'm not some hyper Jon fan, but I would like for him to find out who he is before he dies. I really liked the scene between Sansa and Theon. It was touching. I guess, in a way, she is afraid to be without him. Wasn't too impressed with the Iron Islands. I really liked the King's Landing bit. Cersi is going to get Tommen killed by trying to "help" him be strong. I liked to verbal dual between Jaime and the High Sparrow. Looks like Jaime is getting his mojo back, but the Sparrow put it in check real quick like. They could have put Arrya's first two episodes into the opening episode and left out the Mereen's fleet burning in episode 1. I liked the scene with Tyrion and the dragons. I was nervous at first, but that went away once the first little burst of fire was not the way it appeared in the trailer. Tyrion is one dsy going to return to westoros on one of those dragons. Overall I thought this episode was quite a bit more entertaining than last week's episode. There were some things that just didn't make sense to me, though. Can't wait to hear Ned say, "Now it ends."
  20. Why did they have Willis' head bashed in? Or am I the only one who noticed that? Also, what in Westoros would make Davos even consider that Jon could be resurrected?
  21. I think Lena Heady (sp?) recently had a baby. She was pregnant during filming of "Mother's Mercy".
