  1. She's 5 (and a half ) and yes, it does seem it's too early. We've read some 4-5 pages and stopped for the night. After that she has no interest in continuing. I won't try to push her since she obviously isn't at the level of concentration required for a story that long. Or she might just not care about the story.
  2. I'd say he's talking about racial and ethnic diversity among Elves and Dwarves. If not, I'm all out of ideas.
  3. The fact that luck still is a part of that equation (or at least seen as such) is a good enough reason to doubt those refs (not just those refs, of course).
  4. I've started reading The Hobbit to my daughter two nights ago. We're only a few pages in, she seemed to like it well enough on that first evening but didn't want to continue with it yesterday. I'll try it again tonight and see what happens.
  5. Skin tones are definitely nowhere near the top of the list of problems with this show, no argument from me there. Still, if the show creators would pay attention to things like representing Elves properly instead of trying to make Second Age Middle-Earth societies look more like those of western countries of today, they most definitely wouldn't even think of doing the "time compression and the other bizarre crap". It's a symptom, not the root cause of the issue.
  6. This is exactly the narrative that Amazon is hoping for. Sure, it wouldn't be on the top of the list of things they did wrong, but I would put it (and dare say it should be) on the list. There are more or less detailed descriptions of mythical creatures and having dark skinned Elves (I don't remember Dwarves skin tone being specified) is just as off as putting a horn on the donkey and calling it a unicorn. It just doesn't fit the description.
  7. Alonso has played for Guardiola at Bayern, so it's not that surprising he's picked up some knowledge and tactical approach from him.
  8. Dark skinned Elves and Dwarves were put in for one reason and one reason only - to have as many people as possible talk about that and distract them from the absolute rubbish of the show they made.
  9. I started watching Yasuke, 6 episode mini-series about a samurai of African descent. So far, it seems just right up my alley - medieval setting with some supernatural properties and a bunch of flashbacks that give insight into main character's history and motives.
  10. This alone: is enough for the ref to never again be allowed on the football pitch*. EDIT: *In this case, in the VAR room.
  11. That's definitely a part of it. As a newbie with a fairly restricted access to rugby, I was hoping for some insight and have gotten nothing from it. It could be that I missed these insights, being a newbie and all that, so I'd appreciate input from people who are more knowledgeable on the subject.
  12. And why is that exactly? I mean, obviously Liverpool winning it is far from certain, but City hasn't really taken the world by storm this season, have they? Ok, things are looking up for them with DeBruyne coming back and they can win it but it's far from certain.
  13. That's part of the appeal - these very young looking people having the wisdom of ages just add to their otherworldlyness (in lack of better term).
  14. I was commenting on that with my friends. He's been very angry at touchline for a while now, very different from his behaviour in the earlier stages of his Liverpool career.
  15. I wouldn't be surprised if they already lined someone up. This has obviously been brewing for a while, though we can't know for sure when Klopp informed the board and/or the owners. If they kept a lid on it they might have already held some talks with possible replacements.
  16. He seems like he really, REALLY needs a break. Sorry for your loss, @BigFatCoward What makes you think he could? And if he's at the state he appears to be at now, it would definitely not be easy for him. He did his best with what he had at his disposal. There's nothing more you can expect from him or anyone else. I'd rather he left and found whatever new purpose he feels he needs to find than watch him wither away on our bench.
  17. This has obviously been brewing for a while now, and I wouldn't be surprised if the club and Klopp agreed to put a lid on it until the club has made arrangements for a replacement. It will be interesting to see what Klopp does next. He looks a bit tired to me and might take a break. Also, he was saying he'd like to take over as Germany head coach so that might be an option after Euros. Bayern would definitely be on the lookout for a new manager if they lose the title. What's the status of Ancelotti at Real? He was supposed to take Brazil, but that was stopped, right?
  18. That really came out of the blue. Sad to see him go, wish him all the best in the future. Whoever comes after Klopp will have big shoes to fill and I wish him the best of luck.
  19. Just finished "Six Nations Full Contact" on Netflix. Must say I wasn't impressed. Might be because I'm new to rugby so I don't know some backstories and personalities featured in the documentary, but it felt kind of flat.
  20. Youngsters getting more opportunity to play is the best thing about Liverpool's long cup runs in recent seasons.
  21. Looks like they put the whole movie in that trailer.
  22. Please, enlighten me. What are the physical characteristics that would go along with slashing your way past dozens of enemies at once?
  23. Would it be significantly more realistic if a male character did everything female character did in Blue Eye Samurai?
  24. That sounds insultingly low. I know that Newcastle are desperate to sell, but I doubt that much will make any difference to them.
