His cultists don’t care. They will either refuse to vote for another Republican… or… they will stay home altogether. Demographicly the Republican Party is dead without Trump populism. The Republican Party is tied to the mast of the sinking SS Trump. So… they will do everything in their power to keep that ship afloat. Their desperate flaying attempts to salvage their power is what really frightens me.

The problem, as I see it, is an enthusiasm gap. Trump’s cultists will show up… no matter what he does. As such he has a base turn out guaranteed. If people keep running down Biden… particularly in places like Michigan. Trumpanista turn out could swamp turn out elsewhere. Once again, I appreciate the anger of Muslim Americans. But… at the end of the day that anger could empower someone exponentially worse for them than the guy they are damning today. Trump and his Republican Party are an existential threat to all of us who see what they are.

“Genocide Joe”? You really prefer Trump to a rational human being? Slogans like that will put Trump back in the White House and we all know how much he loves religious and racial minorities in the US. I cannot believe Muslims in the US would empower the man and people who wants to ban Muslim immigration and God only knows what else.

Star Trek: I miss Hemmer (spoilers)

I have a question. My 16 year old son says Trek is bypassing his generation. That no one his age is watching Trek. Is he correct? Is Trek aging out? Is it limited to Boomers, Xers, and Millenials? -
I have an acquaintance at work (I’m in a Regus office and we work for completely different organizations) who is a veteran and works in the “security industry”. He complains frequently that the Ukrainians have fallen back to using Soviet style offensive tactics rather than NATO style manuver and initative. Is he correct to criticize the Ukrainian tactics for their recent efforts?

Star Trek: I miss Hemmer (spoilers)

Next season… Tendi focused. That’s awesome because I love Tendi! It’s nice that they have finally been able to resolve Mariner’s need to be ridiculously rebellious without removing all of her rebelliousness. It was also nice to see where she got her penchant for kicking the authorities in the balls. Good Finale. -
Netanyahu (Likhud) and Hamas love each other. They empower each other with their violent actions. On twitter I’m absolutely seeing people attacking Jews generally/defending Hamas. Hell, I’ve had multiple people question whether the attack on a music festival by Hamas was justified because some of the attendees might have been Reserve IDF soldiers. Hamas and Netanyahu (Likhud) love each other. They empower each other with their violent actions.

Agreed. I’m attempting to point out this can easily be flipped. Further… not here… but in the wider world I’m seeing a disturbing amount of defense for Hamas and vitriol hurled not just at Israel… but at Jews generally.
-
One wonders, is it possible for Hamas to do something that would cause the people in here that defend or minimize Hamas crimes to condemn it? Are they justified in everything they do? Is the answer always going to be… “its complicated” when we wre talking about thousands in of kids getting murdered [and kidnapped]? allot of people are showing their true colors because of this massacre and its so fucking depressing. Any group deliberately targeting civilians is committing war crimes.

What Israel has done to Palestinian civilians is disgusting and reprehensible. What Hamas has done to Israeli civilians is disgusting and reprehensible. That will always be my position. Civilians should never be seen as legitimate targets for hostile action.

What the actual fuck???

On a meta level… how is what Israel is doing in Gaza and the West Bank different from what the US did to First Peoples during the 18th, 19th, and 20th Centuries? I’m not saying this as apologia or defense of Israel’s treatment of Palestinians but to note that it seems fairly close to US treatment of Native peoples that is seen today as noxious and a national shame. Concurrently, that doesn’t justify murder, rape, and kidnapping of civilians by Hamas or Islamic Jihad. We, as a species, seem to be desirous of making “others” to attack and vilify… everywhere we go.

I always enjoyed his Friends Character. May he finally find the peace that eluded him in life. RIP.
