  1. Week -- nah; old Twitter permanently banned the God Emperor, his freedom of speech was denied there. New Twitter will reverse that error, free speech will be restored. If you don’t like this, that’s not my problem
  2. Tribel -- a left-leaning (and -led) alternative, ranked 21st in social networking, could become a Twitter refuge, thanks to Elon! It has 1700 ratings, averaging 4.6 out of 5. No doubt, it will surpass all others. Keep an eye out for its IPO. In this Daily Beast article, the platform promises to be free of hate, misinformation, and bots; a place "that nurtures intelligence and kindness instead of hatred.” Ironically Notable Posts. “Lauren Boebert is an AJ char broiled boogedy~boogedy bats*** crazy C--T. and and IDIOT” “So what do we [do] about lindsay Gramme?” “The s*** sucking piece of hillbilly s*** is calling for riots... McConnell too. Investigate his chinese asset wife for colluding with china and trading state secrets. Skanky f****** b**** needs to rot in a cell too, for life.” “These mother f****** are terrorists and should be s***.” Asterisks are my edits; too graphic, even for me.
  3. "What did you get done this week?" -- Elon, to his former employees, Parag & Ned, prior to termination
  4. Week -- I see we disagree; good, I like that. We can discuss this further, on Free Speech Twitter, without fear of censorship
  5. RAIL STRIKE -- AT RISK Apparently, two unions refused to ratify the agreement despite its generosity. These unions represent 25% of the coalition's membership. Doesn't matter; the strike wouldn't occur until after the mid-terms. Well done, Uncle Joe ... well done
  6. Free Speech -- Preserved I'm curious how many people will abandon Twitter, now that we have a champion of free speech taking over tomorrow. So long as the left wing retains the right to speak their minds (interaction and debate must continue), and the right wing doesn't get out of control (by engaging in reactionary cancel-culture); and deviants are constrained, Elon will be successful. Notable. Elon's new handle, Chief Twit Rumor of 75% firings is not true CEO and CFO fired TWTR's last price reached a high of $54.00 USD
  7. Paxter -- it was shocking to see those investments sink in value, and I sympathize given that I doubt they'll recover. I'm curious to see how the UK bond market performs on Monday, though it's beyond my understanding for now. According to this source, 401K savers have seen a 20% drop in Q2 2022, compared to a year prior; or a 15% drop from Q1. I wonder how Q3 numbers will turn out. Anecdotally this reflects the situation of at least one person I know. At this rate it'll be a 201K by next Summer. *** At the moment I'm consolidating cash for deployment and not buying anything (while holding current positions to avoid significant realized losses, hahaha). My tentative plan is to buy up reliable large-cap dividend stocks and hold for the long term; though, some tech stocks looks interesting.
  8. I never had a 401K; but if I did, it'd now be a 301K.
  9. UPDATE -- inflation showing several months of steady but minimal decreases, though it's less than what was expected given the major Fed rate increases (five times since March!). Unfortunately, as Paxter mentioned, core inflation (i.e., excluding food and energy) has increased. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 2022 SEP 8.2 [current] AUG 8.3 JUL 8.5 JUN 9.1 [peak]
  10. Jamie Dimon (CEO, JPM) -- said it first, and recently confirmed we may see another (and more painful) 20% or so decline in the S&P 500, and I tend to trust his judgement on this; though, neither of us knows for sure. We're in the eye of the hurricane now, bracing for the second act. Then, we'll experience the rest of the recession, which will occur over years, as much as a decade. As I said, this will be the last general wealth-building event I'll actively exploit, which will be followed by a generation of prosperity. Key consideration (Ray Dalio; Founder, Bridgewater Associates): credit. *** DJIA. JAN 2021, 35,100; OCT 2022, 29,300; down -17%. NASDAQ. AUG 2021, 15,500; OCT 2022, 10,500; down -32%. S&P 500. SEP 2021, 4,550; OCT 2022, 3550; down -22%.
  11. PSA -- although the future is bright and looks increasingly primed for exploitation, do! not! gamble! And if you're feeling a little too cocky or overconfident, remember and internalize this, as if your life (and the lives of your own immediate family) depends on it.
  12. "Let me start off with two words, made in America." "... a three letter word, jobs -- j.o.b.s.; jobs." -- Uncle Joe
  13. Top Three Beers. 1) Paulaner Hefe-Weissbier 2) Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier 3) Tecate Cerveza Original
  14. TOTAL. Lower, from -9% to -14%. Although some gains were seen across all positions, liquidating XOM -- where all profits were contained -- increased total current losses to a significant degree, which I found amusing! Otherwise, the general market seems to have improved slightly in the past few days; however, this is unlikely to hold. I'd assume everyone at all socioeconomic classes are (or should) be preparing for an awful 2023. I can't explain why, but riding the edge of this razor blade is such a beutiful thing to experience! T. Higher; -17% to -16%. XOM. Higher; +47% to +70%. After holding for 16 months, qualified profits realized at approximately +70%. Gains over the past few days were too good to let go (a second time) for another round of volatility. Although I wouldn't be surprised a third round would see gains at 80% or higher given the war in Ukraine and the global energy crisis (to be compounded further by planned OPEC+ maneuvers at the expense of Uncle Joe), I want to use the substantial profits for those positions that have suffered most, for greater future profit. KHC. Higher; -9% to -6%. WBD. Higher; -61% to -58%. *** In my thoughts now are two European firms, Credit Suisse Group AG (CS) and Deutsche Bank Aktiengesellschaft (DB). Seems they've sustained significant scandals in the recent past, with consequent decimation of their stock prices. Although both provide fair dividends, it's the price that is appealing to me at the moment, reminding me of Bank of America Corporation (BAC) following the Subprime Mortgage Crisis, circa 2011. Too big to fail -- all three, maybe? Looks delicioso, exquisito, suculento.
  15. Given its prominent role in global politics and culture, owning Twitter is one hell of a tool for a private citizen, particularly in this case. And even with some profitability thus far, Elon will most likely make it more so, I'm confident. When does the God Emperor get reinstated
  16. Paxter -- we're in recession now (in spite of what the NBER refuses to acknowledge), and I'd be shocked if the next relevant update confirms we've climbed out of it. August job openings last month dropped 10% (or 1.1 million) from July, well below what was estimated. Moreover, average annual (adjusted) earnings have declined by nearly 3% while tech is freezing new hires. We'll see at least a moderate landing at best, most likely something worse. Within the past half year I've been unloading real estate holdings and moving into stock equities. It's astonishing how many wealth-building opportunities I've seen in my life, but this event will probably be the last major one I'll experience. Of course I can't time the bottom, so I'm buying at various declines; but will mass (possibly with some margin funds???) when the situation looks desperate.
  17. Knight of Winter -- I doubt that, but who's gonna do an anal probe to confirm? Not me! The man cheated more than just twice (once is enough to ruin a reputation). Giving the benefit of the doubt is usually good policy, but not when money is at stake and it's done (and willingly admitted) multiple times. To believe otherwise is naïve. Chess.com recently investigated in-house (and documented it with 72-page report! hahaha) and concluded Hans cheated over 100 times during online gaming. "...Now, however, an investigation into Niemann’s play—conducted by Chess.com, an online platform where many top players compete—has found the scope of his cheating to be far wider and longer-lasting than he publicly admitted. "The report, reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, alleges that Niemann likely received illegal assistance in more than 100 online games, as recently as 2020. Those matches included contests in which prize money was on the line. The site uses a variety of cheating-detection tools, including analytics that compare moves to those recommended by chess engines, which are capable of beating even the greatest human players every time. "Rensch wrote a letter to Niemann explaining that “there always remained serious concerns about how rampant your cheating was in prize events” and that there was too much at stake. The letter added that Niemann’s suspicious moves coincided with moments when he had opened up a different screen on his computer—implying that he was consulting a chess engine for the best move..."
  18. I prefer to get wasted daily, though it's mostly nowadays
  19. Jeor -- I'd also highlight the PRC's challenges, including their 1) real estate crisis, 2) reduced growth forecast, 3) reconsidered belt and road program, 4) reshored businesses, and 5) security vulnerabilities. Notably, many nearby states will see higher growth! This leads me to believe the world might see a more substantial crash. In other words, the situation looks great, but I think it'll look even greater. On the other hand, I suspect it'll take much longer to recover from wherever we bottom out. Kinda like a hangover (i.e., the more I drink, the longer it takes for me to feel better again).
  20. TOTAL. Worse. Down, from -1% to -9%. Don't worry guys, everything's fine. T. Worse. Down; -11% to -17%. XOM. Worse. Down; +67% to +47%. KHC. Worse. Down; -3% to -9%. WBD. Worse. Down; -56% to -61%. JPM. Same. Haven't jumped in yet, need to see more blood and panic. 0%.
  21. Ormond -- well written article, thank you for sharing! A few interesting ideas you could cover (if you haven't already): 1) why the contemporary butchering of names; e.g., Jasmyn vs Jasmine, Brandyn vs Brandon, Jaxson vs Jackson, et al. 2) what's the origin of diminutives of James vs Jim or Jimmy; Richard vs Dick; William vs Bill, John vs Jack, et al. 3) what's the origin / evolution of African-American names like Tayshaun, Deontay, Lashawn, et al. And I'd be curious how much of an impact the French language had on their development.
  22. Space Champion -- don't fret, it's not bad at all. And the flag and service patch insignias are growing on me. Thank God they used an old-fashioned sounding tune instead of incorporating modern rap music or slam poetry. *** If I had a second chance at youth, I'd still have joined the USA (hahaha), but the USSF would have been a tempting alternative given how it will become the most decisive supporting department during US future wars. And once the US and allies dominate this domain, no unaligned country on Earth will be able to compete (unless permitted). Who needs a dozen or so USN carrier battle groups to project national power when a handful of near-earth orbital weapons platforms will be able to (in the near future) strike more efficiently and effectively. If there's any doubt, allow me to remind everyone, the future is American. [EARTH] "Who rules Eastern Europe commands the Heartland; Who rules the Heartland commands the World Island; Who rules the World Island commands the world" -- Sir Halford John Mackinder [SEA] “For whosoever commands the sea commands the trade; whosoever commands the trade of the world commands the riches of the world, and consequently the world itself.” -- Sir Walter Raleigh [SPACE] “Who controls Low-Earth Orbit controls Near-Earth Space. Who controls Near-Earth Space dominates Terra. Who dominates Terra determines the destiny of humankind.” -- Everett Dolman
  23. RAIL STRIKE -- AVERTED Looks like a good deal. Overall, a win for Uncle Joe and labor. Anything else would have caused significant hardships for the country, though I wonder how much of the costs will be passed on to the consumer. Services are, or will be, restored. Pending union ratification: 24% wage increases over the next 5 years (unions wanted 31%) 14.1% immediate wage increase 5 annual bonuses of $1000 USD $122,000, average annual employee compensation (including healthcare and employer retirement contributions) No change to health insurance copays / deductibles Limited change to paid sick leave
  24. RAIL STRIKE -- TRANS, RETAIL, ENERGY, TRAVEL Interesting situation on potential us rail strikes, though i'm not sure if it'll turn into a shutdown. If it does, there'll be significant supply-chain disruption and delays that affect water, energy, transportation, food, travel, et al. We should see a decision by the weekend. Strike 1! Strike 2! Strike 3!
